The Construction Industry Training Board
CITB is the Industry Training Board and a partner in the Sector Skills Council for the construction industry in England, Scotland and Wales. Their job is to work with industry to encourage training, which helps build a safe, professional and fully qualified workforce.
The support and funding provided helps companies to improve skills, increase their competitiveness and respond to challenges such as the low carbon agenda, reducing costs on site and recruiting the best talent for their sector.
CITB take a leadership role for the industry, addressing skills challenges through their strategic plan:
The UK infrastructure plan, a housing boom and the importance of developing new ways of working and embracing new technologies, are combining to create a demand in construction for more skills, new skills and higher level skills.
CITB have consulted and listened to the industry to assess their priorities, locally, regionally, nationally, with the details of how they will address those issues laid out in Strategic Plan 2015-2017.
Working in partnership with other bodies and agencies for example CITB Northern Ireland, UKCES ensures that the UK takes a lead and promotes world class innovative approaches to developing a GB wide workforce.
ConstructionSkills are the Sector Skills Council for the construction industry working under the Universal Services contract to the United Kingdom Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) and is an integral part of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB)
