Tanzania awarded AfDB loan for consultancy and design for bridge and bypass

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has received loans from the African Development Bank (AfDB) towards the cost of undertaking their Transport Sector Support Programme (TSSP) and intends to use part of the funds to carry out Consultancy Services for Feasibility Study, Environmental & Social Impact Assessment, Detailed Engineering Design and Preparation of Tender Documents for Construction of a Bridge and Its Approach Roads to Bypass Mtera Dam and the Babati Town Bypass Road (15.5 Km).

The scope of services included under this project comprises two phases:

Phase I: Feasibility Study including the Preliminary Design, Cost Estimates, Preliminary Environmental & Social Impacts and development of Preliminary Resettlement Action Plan and Survey of Properties to be affected.

Phase II: Detailed Engineering Design, including Detailed Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Development of Resettlement Action Plan and Preparation of Bidding Documents.

The duration of the assignment is 14 months after commencement of the services.

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication and is now inviting eligible Consultants to express their interest in providing the above services.

Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s: “Rules and Procedures for the Use of Consultants May 2008 Edition-Revised July 2012” which is available on the Bank’s website.
