SACYR wins waste cleaning and collection contract in Bogotá

SACYR wins €170m waste cleaning and collection contract in Bogotá

SACYR, through its subsidiary Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales, leads the SAS ESP Clean Area consortium, which has been awarded the ASE 5 Urban Aseo contract in the city of Bogotá (Colombia). The awarded contract has a duration of eight years, with an estimated total amount close to €170 million.

The area awarded to Valoriza is Special Service Area No. 5, which includes the town of Suba, north of the capital of Colombia, and which will serve an estimated population of around 1.5 million inhabitants.

The awarded service is provided by concession under the figure of exclusive service areas. It consists of the collection of unusable waste, sweeping, cleaning of roads and public areas, cutting of grass, pruning of trees in public areas, washing of public areas and transportation of the waste generated by the previous activities to the final disposal sites.

The Consortium led by Valoriza will provide a service with more than 600 workers, high investment in more efficient equipment, adapted to the new needs of the city, implementing the collection of waste by lateral loading, in addition to having the latest technology in vehicles and equipment, and use of the most advanced location and communication systems.

With this new award, Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales expands its international activity, in which it already carries out waste treatment services in Melbourne (Australia). Valoriza carries out the collection and treatment of urban solid waste and street cleaning in cities such as Madrid, Ibiza, Toledo, Cádiz, Soria, Albacete or Guadalajara. In total, it serves nearly six million citizens.
