Eurovia Contracting has completed a major roadbuilding contract three months ahead of schedule, in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, with the help of a brand new JCB Hydradig. The leading civil engineering firm was the main contractor on the £5.4m Peppermint Junction project delivered in December, for Lincolnshire County Council.

This key local regeneration project, included a new three-arm roundabout at the A17/A151 junction, making access to the A17 safer, easier and faster than the previous T-junction. It also involved the addition of a second roundabout that will provide access to housing and commercial development land.

The Eurovia Contracting team successfully carried out a series of construction activity works across a large-scale site. All material handling, concrete breaking, kerb placing and excavations tasks were efficiently and safely delivered using proven project management expertise, and innovative new equipment such as the JCB Hydradig 110W complete with steelwrist tilt rotator attachment.

Eurovia Contracting’s Divisional Fleet & Plant Manager, Chris Forrest said: “The Hydradig gives us true versatility with the breaker and the ditching buckets. Functionality is increased even further with the Steelwrist – you’ve got the option to break out one day, excavate the next and it’s fantastic for fork operation too. It benefits us in a lot of ways. We’ve now experienced the fantastic visibility it gives on site, which improves our health and safety performance, and we don’t have to hire in more equipment, so we’ve been more cost-effective on site.”
