Metso features high performing recycling solutions at USA Waste Expo

Metso will present its extensive waste recycling equipment and services offering at Waste Expo 2018, taking place April 24-26 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Halls, Nevada, USA.

During the event, Metso professionals will demonstrate how to integrate ideal process productivity, sustainability and reliability with innovative solutions and ease of maintenance to ensure higher uptime.

“At Waste Expo, we will address the challenges in the waste recycling industry. We will introduce solutions that enable our customers to achieve their production targets with the most suitable solution and volume for various processes. In designing our waste shredders, we have tackled all the important details,” says Morten Rasmussen, Commercial Director for Waste Recycling, Metso.

Outstanding pre-shredder performance for various customer needs

Metso’s M&J pre-shredding technology for stationary and mobile plants is based on a powerful knife design and open cutting tables. These distinct technical advantages benefit customers who are looking for a robust high-capacity shredder for continuous use at a high run rate even with hard and abrasive materials.

The pre-shredders are available in many sizes. The M&J PreShred 1000 stationary pre-shredder is an excellent choice for many waste applications, whereas the M&J PreShred 2000 is optimal for shredding or bag opening of huge amounts of household waste. The 4000 series meets the special needs of incoming material that is extremely varied.

Metso’s offering also includes one of the largest pre-shredders on the market, the M&J PreShred 6000, which is available as a stationary or a mobile solution. It is an ideal choice for very high capacity needs and for the processing of extremely bulky or very heavy materials, such as large bales of paper, cardboard, and plastic, as well as rolls from the paper industry.

In total, over 800 Metso waste shredders are currently in operation globally, most of them in China, UK, Germany, France and Italy.

The Metso M&J FineShred 1550 and 3550, introduced in 2017, and the two-shaft M&J FineShred 4500 and 6500, handle a wide range of different materials and deliver very stable and homogenous output, thus making it extremely suitable for RDF production.

Homogenous output of Metso’s fine-shredders increases the value of RDF

Most Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) plants using plastic and paper waste as feed have specific requirements regarding shredding capacity, grain size and operating reliability to ensure reliable and consistent production. The Metso M&J FineShred 1550 and 3550, introduced in 2017, and the two-shaft M&J FineShred 4500 and 6500, handle a wide range of different materials and deliver very stable and homogenous output, thus making it extremely suitable for RDF production.

In Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) production lines, where fuel is produced by shredding pretreated solid waste, the fine-shredder should generate as little oversize material as possible to ensure smooth feeding. With Metso’s fine-shredder, customers can achieve a throughput of up to 28 tons per hour, depending on the output size. The multi-edged shaft is fitted with a patented knife system and is fed by a pusher that ensures material is not forced onto the shaft, thereby generating minimal heat.

The M&J PreShred 4000 series is the most popular pre-shredder in Metso's portfolio, and it meets the special needs of incoming material that is extremely varied.

Seeking recognized partners to join global distributor network

Developing a global distribution community is one of the strategic focus areas within Metso’s Waste Recycling business. Metso’s global waste recycling community currently has about 25 official distributors and agents and is constantly looking for new, best-in-class partners to join its global network. Metso distributors provide support for customers both in equipment and services.

In North America, Metso is interested in joining forces with new partners who have proven experience in the waste recycling field and who can create the best possible value for our customers.
