McCann wins coveted RoSPA Gold Award

Nottingham-based civil and electrical engineering firm McCann recently collected its third consecutive RoSPA Gold Award for its ongoing commitment to health and safety in the workplace.

The company achieved the Gold award in the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), with the presentation taking place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Wednesday 4th July in front of fellow finalists and winners from a range of different sectors.

Through the RoSPA Awards scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

McCann was crowned with the same title in 2016 and 2017 and this year’s win completes a hat trick of successive Gold awards for the business. The company’s strong internal ‘health and safety culture’ was reflected when it recently surpassed 2 million consecutive hours without reporting an incident as well as managing to keep its accident frequency rate (AFR) for RIDDOR reportable accidents at zero for over four and a half years.

Speaking after the ceremony, Managing Director John McCann said, “Naturally we are delighted to receive such a prestigious award for a third consecutive year and we would like to pass on our congratulations to the rest of this year’s winners for an outstanding commitment to health and safety best practice throughout a range of sectors,” said John.

“Adhering to health and safety systems sits at the heart of our day-to-day operations, and every member of our team is fully committed to upholding the highest standards in order to minimise accidents whilst successfully delivering major infrastructure projects nationwide.” added John.
