There are no tricks, just treats on the Blakedale stand at Traffex Road Expo Scotland as the road safety vehicle hire and sales specialist showcases its growing fleet of self-drive Traffic Management (TM) Vehicles and unveils an exciting new partnership on 31 October and 1 November.

Visitors to the expo are invited to pick up a brochure, goody bag and to see two of Blakedale’s latest vehicles in the flesh – a compact ‘city’ 3.5 tonne Crash Cushion (IPV) and 3.5 tonne Low Bodied TM Vehicle – which will be on display on Demonstration Area 8.

Blakedale’s “city” IPV, also known as a Light Truck Mounted Attenuator (LTMA) or “mini” Crash Cushion Vehicle, is one of the first of its kind in the UK. It was launched last year to provide additional protection for vulnerable work crews on lower speed roads up to 40mph where physical space constraints make the use of traditional, and much larger, IPVs impossible.

“We are proud to be a pioneer of the 3.5 tonne IPV and we are championing their adoption in areas where they are not yet a requirement, but undoubtedly provide greater protection for road workers and the public,” says Carmen Bowley, Joint Managing Director of Blakedale.

The 3.5 tonne IPV on display is one of only a few currently available in the UK. It features a bespoke Traffic Management body with an LP13 light arrow board and Verdegro LTMA Crash Cushion at the rear, which has been crash-tested to 70 km/h (43 mph) and is approved to NCHRP 350 standards.

The compact IPV will be stationed next to the Blakedale-designed 3.5 tonne Low Bodied Traffic Management Vehicle (also known as the ‘Cone Ranger’). Ideal for the deployment of cones, signage and temporary traffic lights. The vehicle has an ultra-low bed height and payload of around 1300 kg. This allows operators to step on and off the working area quickly and safely, while removing the need for cone wells.

Blakedale offers these and other vehicles, including 18 tonne IPVs (with Red X and ‘Convoy Control Vehicle’ sign if required), self-contained mobile welfare units and general maintenance vehicles, for short and long-term rental, contract hire and sale. The company is renowned for its commitment to safety. All TM Vehicles are equipped with the latest safety features and many are supplied with a recordable multi-camera system as standard.

Finally, Blakedale will be announcing a new transatlantic partnership which will see them unveil an additional new product and distributorship.
