MP Futures is proud to announce the new Mineral and Construction Product Sampling and Testing Operator Apprenticeship in England, a versatile apprenticeship for sampling and testing the range of high-quality products produced in the mineral products sector, with a £9,000 funding band this apprenticeship provides great flexibility to satisfy every employers requirements.

Driven by the need highlighted by employers, MP Futures has acted as a business partner to the sector to develop this new apprenticeship standard in England. Following the success of the Mobile and Static Plant and Weighbridge Operator apprenticeships, MP Futures is delighted that a third apprenticeship is now available to employers.

A valued traditional entry route to the sector, Sampling and Testing Operators gain valuable knowledge of the products, production process and end use of products during the apprenticeship and play a key role in maintaining high quality and consistency of the products.

“This apprenticeship is close to my heart as it’s the role that got me hooked into the industry” Said Anthony Elgey, General Manager of MP Futures. “Many people in the industry who have enjoyed rewarding careers all have fond memories of starting in this role, I am proud of the work that employers and MP Futures have put in to make this a great apprenticeship.”

This new, flexible apprenticeship will equip the apprentice with the skills and knowledge an employer needs, whether it’s sampling products on major infrastructure projects or small satellite production operations.

On top of this, the Sampling and Testing Apprenticeship also delivers a Vocational Qualification as part of the apprenticeship, assuring employers that the apprentice can demonstrate competence and has achieved the high standard set by sector employers.

“The approval of this apprenticeship means the Mineral Extractives sector now has three high-quality apprenticeships created for the industry by the industry,” says Peter Kay, Trailblazer Chairman and Learning and Development Manager at Tarmac. “With the development of the Mineral Extractives Higher Apprenticeship Standard progressing well this will give us great opportunities to attract and develop talent, whilst accessing the apprenticeship levy and funding. I would encourage all employers to utilise these new apprenticeships for your business.”

This apprenticeship attracts £9,000 worth of funding and provides great flexibility to employers. Non-levy employers may only need to pay 10% of the agreed training costs.
