Highways England awards North West million pound Construction Works Framework
Highways England has teamed up with 26 companies to help improve journeys for road users in Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire and South Lancashire. A framework, worth up to £205 million, was awarded on 23 January and will start on 1 April 2019. The Construction Works Framework covers 10 different specialisms of work and will run for 4 years.
It covers a range of activities that include renewal work to roads and bridges, and improvement schemes on the Highways England road network.
The framework forms part of the Asset Delivery contracts for Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire and South Lancashire (known as Area 10) and will enable Highways England to deliver schemes which will improve both journeys for customers and the condition of the road network.
The new framework contractors will work alongside the Maintenance & Response and Design Services contractors that were announced for the area last year.
Highways England will be working with the successful contractors to ensure that they are mobilised and ready to begin delivering key services from April 2019.
