i.safe MOBILE introduces an industrial smartphone for potentially explosive environments
i.safe MOBILE GmbH, one of the world’s leading and most innovative developers of mobile communication devices for safe use in hazardous areas, presents the IS530.1, an industrial smartphone with Android 9.0 Pie.
This device, in addition to the important ATEX and IECEx standards for explosion protection, also enables the high performance and communication requirements for use in networked industries. Automation, industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT) constantly present users of industrial communication devices with new challenges that can be easily mastered with the smart and innovative IS530.1: Equipped with Bluetooth® 5.0, a multifunctional ISM interface, huge internal 64 GB memory and the highest camera resolution in its class (13 MP main camera and 5 MP front camera), it enables users to deploy it without any difficulties in critical environments.
The new smartphone from i.safe MOBILE is ATEX and IECEx certified for zone 1/21 and can therefore also be used in potentially explosive areas. The device is now available directly from i.safe MOBILE. The device is available as IS530.2 for zone 2/22 from the end of the year.
Under its i.safe MOBILE brand, the company has developed an extremely robust device for use in harsh industrial environments in non-hazardous areas for the first time. This rugged version will be available under the name IS530RG.
Innovative, multifunctional ISM interface
The i.safe MOBILE IS530.1 smartphone offers an exceptionally innovative and modular concept thanks to its multifunctional ISM interface. The 13-pin, screwable connection is ergonomically placed on the right side of the device. This makes it possible to quickly and easily change the add-on peripherals outside the hazardous area. Standard intrinsically safe active headsets and passive remote speaker microphones (RSM) can be connected to the ISM interface.
The amplifier for the passive RSM devices is located directly in the i.safe MOBILE IS530.1. The device is rounded off with an intrinsically safe, OTG-capable USB2.0 connection. This makes the IS530.1 not only a smartphone in the conventional sense, but also a universal tool for any industrial application. For example, with the HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) module, maintenance and configuration tasks can be performed without complications and hot areas can be determined using an infrared camera.
It is also possible to read 1D and 2D barcodes at a distance of 20 cm to more than 10 meters.
Bluetooth® 5.0 for faster speed and greater range
Speed and range are essential, especially for IoT applications: The integrated, latest Bluetooth technology enables faster transmissions and a range up to four times higher than older Bluetooth technology – with low power consumption (Low Energy Transmission).
Large memory capacity and fast operating system
The powerful processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon SDM660 Octa-Core), the large internal memory of 64 GB (expandable to 128 GB via microSD) and a 4 GB RAM combined with the current Android™ version 9.0 provide the basis for a high working speed.
Best-in-class camera performance
The i.safe MOBILE IS530.1 has a very good camera performance: The main camera of the IS530.1 has 13 MP resolution, the front camera 5 MP.
Multifunctional equipment package
Two micro SIM slots, Bluetooth 5.0 LE support, NFC (Near Field Communication) and Wifi (2.4GHz + 5GHz: IEEE; 802.11a/ b/g/n/ac/e/e/k/r/h) with hotspot function for max. 8 connections complete the comprehensive equipment package.
Furthermore, the mobile multi-talent has various sensors (G sensor, magnetic sensor, ambient light, proximity sensor and gyroscope) as well as support for the satellite systems GPS/A-GPS/Glonass/A-Glonass/BeiDou/Galileo, and an optional lone worker protection (via third-party app).
The i.safe MOBILE IS530.1 can also be used in the PMR area with corresponding software as a walkie-talkie using the PTT (push-to-talk) button (via third-party app). The display can also be operated with gloves.
Robust and extremely powerful
Inside the i.safe MOBILE IS530.1, which measures 155 x 80 x 25 mm (LxWxH) and weighs 325 grams, there is a powerful battery with 3,600 mAh (3.8V; 13.68Wh), which can be used again in a very short time thanks to the quick charger with USB magnetic charging port integrated in the scope of delivery.
Thanks to its performance-optimized design, the IS530.1 with its replaceable 3,600 mAh battery can also be used for more than one shift. As with all i.safe MOBILE industrial mobile devices, the IS530.1’s amplified loudspeaker guarantees the best audio quality even in noisy industrial environments or rough outdoor use.
Thanks to the IP68 certification (waterproof up to 1 hour in a water depth of up to 2 meters) and the MIL-STD 810G military standard, the IS530.1 is also resistant to all types of liquids, dust, oil mist, air pressure and temperature fluctuations from -20°C to +60° as well as vibrations, shocks and even falls from a height of up to 1.20 meters on hard surfaces.
