Wrekin and Ringway trial sustainable solutions for failing manhole covers
THE safety and longevity of all major roads in Bracknell has been improved, thanks to a solution provided by Wrekin Products. The trial, in partnership with Ringway, which set out to find a more robust, sustainable solution to failing manhole covers, has delivered positive results and means frequent replacement no longer needs considering.
Gosia Kwapisz, product manager at Wrekin Products, said: “We were approached by Ringway to provide a comprehensive solution to a problem that is common across the highways sector. After visiting various sites across Bracknell, we identified that our Unite system was the best fit to alleviate the volume of failures being experienced.
“As part of the trial, we provided four Unite manhole covers, which quickly proved their suitability as a long-term solution, and have since gone on to feature on all major roads within Bracknell.
“Ensuring a successful installation and maximising longevity are two of the most important factors when it comes to manhole covers, and we were thrilled to be able to provide the answer the Ringway team was looking for.”
The Unite range is Wrekin’s most robust, with design features that combine to give the longest life and, therefore, lowest whole life cost offered by any of Wrekin’s manhole covers. This has been proven through 20 years of service, more than 500,000 installations and zero reported failures.
