ENR names Superior Construction a Top 50 Domestic Heavy Contractor

Superior Construction, an American family-owned infrastructure contractor, has been named to Engineering News-Record’s 2022 list of “Top 50 Domestic Heavy Contractors” and was also recognized on its list of “Top 400 Contractors” overall.

Each year, ENR ranks companies by their construction revenue to compile its “Top 400 Contractors” list. Superior ranked 199th on the 2022 list, with a revenue of $494.4 million, most of which came from domestic contracts.

Last year, Superior was ranked 217 on the list, but $241.8 million in new contracts helped push the firm up several spots this year. For the “Top 50 Domestic Heavy Contractors” list, firms are ranked by total domestic revenue for publicly funded projects that primarily involve earthmoving and related skills.

“Our growth trajectory reflects the hard work our employees put in every day,” said Nick Largura, CEO of Superior Construction. “We would not be where we are today without their efforts and are immensely proud of the entire Superior family.”

According to ENR, the Top 400 Contractors grew their annual revenue despite significant challenges, like COVID-related supply chain disruptions, pricing volatility and increased tariffs on building materials caused by the war in Ukraine.

Overall, total revenue for these firms rose to a record $421 billion in 2021, a 1.49% improvement over the year before. This marks the 11th straight year of increasing contracting revenue for the Top 400.

Superior Construction is an American family-owned and operated infrastructure contractor dedicated to providing innovative solutions with industry experts and leaders. First established in 1923 as the J Largura Company, the now fourth-generation family business evolved into Superior Construction by 1938.

Throughout its history, the company’s foundation has always been building the infrastructure of America, successfully delivering projects across numerous delivery methods, with a specialty in design-build. Superior provides unique design solutions, forward-thinking technology, and a safe work environment to create the most value for clients, employees and the community.
