How Generative AI is transforming the Construction Industry
We’ve recently seen AI disrupt everything from writing and design all the way to how we drive our cars. Now in 2023 it’s disrupting one of our most traditional industries, construction.
When we think of construction our first thoughts might be of the crashing and banging as structures are built or demolished and consider to ourselves how AI might transform that process?
Venture Capital thinks differently, and several VC firms have recently placed their bets on Civils.ai, a young tech startup as being the one capable of transforming construction with their generative AI technology.
The generative AI developed by Civils.ai helps firms to automatically create the design and plans needed for a construction project. The process of gathering up and understanding the thousands of pages of specifications, calculations and drawings needed to start the design and planning of their project would typically take weeks of work.
With the help of AI, this process can be done in minutes.
For construction companies, it’s as simple as Engineers dragging and dropping their project files into Civils.ai. The AI then reads through and processes the files, generating the insights, data and summaries needed to start the planning permission application and develop design options.
The startup was founded in 2022 by Stevan (UK) and Mirko (Italy) based in Singapore, a city often mentioned when discussing the topic of Digital Cities. The pace of adoption of their software took many in the industry by surprise, amassing tens of thousands of users in their first months of launch. Civils.ai has been named among the Global Top 50 most promising ConTech Startups of 2023 by CEMEX Ventures.
With long-term ambitions to build a complete Construction Generative AI, capable of understanding and generating all the reports, drawings and documents needed to assess a construction project, they have an ambitious and exciting roadmap ahead of themselves.
