The rugged landscape of Scotland’s Perthshire now features a new addition to the fleet of Cross Civils & Construction Services: the Develon DA30-7 articulated dump truck (ADT).

Known for its versatility and best-in-class performance, this powerful machine marks the company’s first venture into Develon equipment, supplied by James Gordon Ltd (Gordons), the official dealer for Scotland and Cumbria. With its unmatched capability across earthmoving and quarry work, the DA30-7 has already earned high praise from the team.

A Machine That Delivers on All Fronts

Kevin Cross, owner of Cross Civils & Construction Services, couldn’t be happier with the new addition. Reflecting on the decision, he said: “David Moir at Gordons, who I’ve known for a long time, invited me to test the DA30-7 as a potential replacement for one of our older machines. From the attention to detail to understanding our business needs, the team at Gordons made the entire process seamless.”

And seamless it was. The DA30-7’s design and performance blew away expectations. With a shorter turning circle and lower centre of gravity, this ADT offers unmatched stability, even on uneven or steep terrain. Its permanent 6-wheel contact and drive ensure flawless performance across diverse surfaces, including soft ground, tight turns, and steep slopes. “Without a doubt, it’s the best machine we have,” Cross remarked. “Our drivers love it, and it’s proven indispensable across our civils projects, housing developments, and even our quarry operations.”

What Sets the DA30-7 Apart

The Develon DA30-7 comes with a payload capacity of 28 tonnes and is powered by the Scania Stage V-compliant DC09 9-litre diesel engine, delivering a robust 276 kW (375 HP). As part of Develon’s articulated dump truck range, it shares the spotlight with the DA45-7 6×6 and its 4×4 variant.

Key features include:

  • Superior Weight Distribution: An articulation hinge behind the turning ring ensures balanced weight distribution to the front axle, even at maximum steering articulation.
  • Innovative Suspension: A free-swinging rear tandem bogie and self-levelling front suspension guarantee smooth operation on all terrains.
  • Operator Comfort: The state-of-the-art cab offers an ergonomic, comfortable workspace for operators, boosting productivity.
  • Durability and Efficiency: Designed for low maintenance, the DA30-7 excels in reliability, operational efficiency, and fuel economy.

This unique combination of features ensures the DA30-7 is well-suited for challenging environments, making it a favourite among operators and businesses alike.

A Growing Fleet with Develon’s Backing

Cross Civils & Construction Services has come a long way in just six years, establishing itself as a leader in civil engineering, construction, and aggregates. With over 60 employees, the company has built a reputation for delivering large-scale projects efficiently and reliably.

The addition of the DA30-7 aligns with their growth trajectory, enhancing their capabilities in earthmoving, housing development, and quarry operations.

Kevin Cross emphasised: “What started as a potential replacement quickly turned into an addition to our fleet. The DA30-7 is simply unmatched, and its inclusion brings our fleet diversity to four different brands.”
