Ferrovial, in partnership with Acciona, has successfully completed a 29.7-kilometre stretch of road in Chimbote, seamlessly extending the Pan-American Highway. This ambitious infrastructure upgrade is set to significantly reduce travel times, slashing the two-hour journey through the city to just 40 minutes—a staggering 65% improvement.
The project, completed ahead of schedule, represents a vital boost to the region’s economic and logistical framework. With a total investment of 600 million Peruvian sol (€142 million), the highway was delivered in just two years and nine months—three months earlier than anticipated.
A Comprehensive Approach to Infrastructure Development
More than just a road, this project includes a series of essential complementary infrastructures.

- Two new bridges
- Three traffic circles
- Six underpasses
- Frontage roads
- Infrastructure for water irrigation management
Notably, the integration of drone technology played a crucial role in optimising resource allocation, monitoring progress, and improving health and safety measures throughout construction.
