The event showcased the highest level of technical expertise, culminating in a thrilling final round that saw three outstanding participants emerge victorious in their respective product lines.
Celebrating the Winners
After intense rounds of competition, three individuals claimed the top spots for their exceptional skills and knowledge:
- Soogeun Nam (EXC) – Volvo CE Korea (KSS)
- Sangjun Park (ART) – Volvo CE Korea (KSS)
- Rico Rosal Salem Jr. (WLO) – Civic Merchandising Inc., Philippines
These talented product specialists triumphed over 96 competitors from 11 countries, demonstrating their proficiency in critical technical areas. From mastering advanced hydraulic systems to showcasing expertise in electric powertrain diagnostics, these winners exemplify Volvo CE’s commitment to driving operational excellence and sustainability.

An Overview of the TECHXPERT 2025 Competition
This year’s TECHXPERT competition was designed to recognise top talent, inspire collaboration, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Following a successful launch in 2023, the 2025 edition offered a platform for dealer product specialists to demonstrate their technical prowess and collaborate with peers across the region.
The competition was held in two key stages:
Preliminary Stage: Online Theory Assessment
From November 25 to December 6, 2024, an online theory round tested participants on essential technical knowledge. The assessment covered:
- Electrical systems
- Drive train mechanics
- Hydraulic systems
- General product knowledge
Participants were evaluated on accuracy, speed, and overall expertise. Of the 96 initial entrants, 85 moved forward, showcasing their deep understanding of Volvo CE’s equipment.
Final Stage: Real-World Technical Challenges
The final stage took place from February 17 to 19, 2025, at Volvo’s Jinan Technology Centre in China. The 12 finalists tackled five practical challenges that mirrored real-world scenarios:
- Troubleshooting complex issues
- Failure reporting and analysis
- Genuine Volvo CE parts recommendations
- Component inspection for wear and tear
- Real-time remote technical support
Participants competed in one of three product categories: Articulated Haulers, Wheel Loaders, or Excavators. This hands-on approach allowed contestants to demonstrate their technical expertise and problem-solving skills under pressure.
