Tadano Reaches New Heights at bauma with Global Ambitions

Tadano’s dynamic presence at bauma 2025 in Munich is more than a typical trade fair showcase — it’s a bold statement of intent. With a fresh wave of electrification, strategic acquisitions, and global service upgrades, the lifting giant is shifting gears, staking a serious claim as the frontrunner in the race towards a cleaner, more connected construction future.

“We are showing that we are ready to meet the changing requirements in the lifting industry and to take on a leading role worldwide,” says Toshiaki Ujiie, President & CEO of Tadano Ltd. And he’s not exaggerating.

Backed by a medium-term management plan running through to 2026, Tadano’s efforts are laser-focused on four transformative pillars:

  • Driving Decarbonisation with green tech, hybrid innovations, and electrified machinery
  • Expanding Horizons via key acquisitions that extend market reach
  • Refining Manufacturing Globally for efficiency, quality, and sustainability
  • Supporting Global Growth through better infrastructure and upskilled service

Electrification and Green Innovation

Taking centre stage is Tadano’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The company’s mission, “Our True Mission: Zero Emissions,” sets ambitious goals — cutting product emissions by 35% and overall business emissions by 25% by 2030. Net zero is on the horizon for 2050.

At bauma, this drive comes to life in the dedicated Green Area, where Tadano is showcasing its fully electric eGR-1000XLL rough terrain crane, following launches in Japan and the US. European customers can now get a close look as the crane makes its continental debut.

Not to be outdone, hybrid tech also shines. The AC 5.120H-1 prototype, a diesel-electric all terrain crane, follows a successful trial programme across Europe. This evolution builds on the well-received hybrid concept launched at bauma 2022, expanding low-emission solutions into heavier lifting applications.

Additionally, Tadano presents:

  • e-Pack: For zero-emission crane operation
  • eAA-9MC: Electric aerial lifts for indoor/sensitive sites
  • Electric Valla pick-and-carry cranes: A new, emission-free mobility solution for compact sites

A Global Product Showcase Like Never Before

Unlike past years focused on Europe, bauma 2025 marks Tadano’s first full global product portfolio presentation. The change not only underscores Tadano’s international strategy but also its growing manufacturing and brand unification power.

“This marks a significant shift from previous bauma trade fairs, where our focus was primarily on the EMEAR markets,” says Ujiie. The booth itself reflects Tadano’s eco-conscious ethos: built using locally sourced, reusable, and recyclable timber modules.

From all-terrain to rough terrain, aerial work platforms to spider lifts, Tadano is rolling out its most comprehensive lineup to date, including:

  • AC 7.450-1, AC 5.250L-2 (new), and AC 4.080-1 with e-Pack
  • CC 78.1250-1 lattice boom crane, lifting up to 140 tonnes to 224.5m
  • GR-1000EX-4 and electrified eGR-1000XLL
  • A full aerial platform lineup including AS-23MJ and AS-63HD
  • Oil & Steel Octoplus 21, PM 40526 SP truck loader cranes

This arsenal of lifting muscle is a powerful display of Tadano’s intent to cater to every lifting need — from urban job sites to offshore wind installations.

Acquisitions Drive Expansion

Two acquisitions take centre stage in Munich: Nagano and Manitex International.

Nagano brings hydraulic aerial work platforms to the Tadano family, now available in both Europe and the US. Meanwhile, Manitex International adds significant firepower with:

  • PM loader cranes
  • Oil & Steel aerial platforms
  • Valla pick-and-carry electric cranes

These brands, now unified under the Tadano umbrella, will maintain their identity within product names but benefit from global Tadano support and recognition.

Visitors can explore these at Booth FS 1203/1, a stone’s throw from the main Tadano stand.

Looking ahead, the acquisition of IHI Transport Machinery — specialists in port, offshore, and high-rise cranes — is expected to close by year-end. This move cements Tadano’s commitment to lifting solutions across all terrains and industries.

Future-Ready Digital Services

Of course, lifting today isn’t just about steel and hydraulics. Tadano is doubling down on digital services, with smart tools designed to empower users.

  • Tadano Pro App: Offers quick access to data sheets, brochures, and crane info
  • EVOLT App: Monitors battery levels, routes, and operating history of electric cranes
  • Tadano e-Service Platform: Centralises LiftAPI, HELLO-NET telematics, and myTadano

But the real showstopper? Hey Tadano, an AI-powered assistant set to change how customers interact with crane intelligence. “This groundbreaking innovation offers a level of accessibility and efficiency that sets a new industry standard,” says Andreas Hofmann.

Global Infrastructure Investments

Growing global demand requires robust infrastructure, and Tadano isn’t skimping. From Japan to Germany and the USA, it’s investing in:

  • New spare parts centres in Lauf, the US, and beyond
  • Modernised repair shops in Zweibrücken, North America, and Australia

“With these initiatives in line with our ‘One Tadano’ approach, we are increasing efficiency and ensuring consistent brand quality worldwide,” says Ujiie.

This global expansion ensures that support is never far away, no matter where the crane is deployed.

Commitment to Quality and Legacy

With a heritage dating back to 1955 and the development of Japan’s first hydraulic truck crane, Tadano has never stood still. Its philosophy of Creation, Contribution, and Cooperation underpins every move.

Today, the brand represents more than just machinery. It’s a symbol of trust for customers in construction, energy, ports, and infrastructure. With a global support network and a relentless pursuit of innovation, Tadano delivers more than products — it delivers possibilities.

Why bauma 2025 is a Must-See for Industry Leaders

For decision-makers, investors, and industry professionals, Tadano’s bauma booth is a blueprint of the future. From emissions-cutting tech to intelligent service tools and integrated portfolios, it’s a one-stop shop for what the lifting industry will look like in the years to come.

Toshiaki Ujiie sums it up perfectly: “We are redefining the possibilities in the lifting equipment industry by consistently focusing on innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.”
