CASE Expands Mini Excavator Range with High-Spec CX38D

CASE Construction Equipment has bolstered its market-leading compact excavator line-up with the launch of the CX38D, a 3.9-tonne, zero tail swing model engineered for power, precision, and versatility.

This latest addition brings the range to an impressive 20 models, offering operators and contractors even more choice for tackling diverse jobsite demands.

Weighing 430kg more than the well-regarded CX35D, the CX38D sits on a wider 120mm undercarriage for superior stability. It offers enhanced digging depth and reach courtesy of a 200mm longer dipper arm, with an optional 250mm extension for projects requiring extra stretch.

Those needing additional lifting capacity can opt for a heavier counterweight, while an optional six-way dozer blade further boosts the machine’s versatility.

Hydraulic Performance That Punches Above Its Weight

The CX38D features innovative load-sensing hydraulics, delivering smooth and simultaneous control of all functions. Operators benefit from low-effort joysticks and the flexibility of up to three auxiliary circuits, each managed through electro-proportional roller switches. This advanced hydraulic system ensures robust breakout forces, excellent lifting capacity, and responsive upper carriage swing performance.

A float function on the dozer blade allows for efficient levelling and clean-up, while electro-proportional flow control for the first auxiliary service and electro-proportional engine RPM control with auto-idle—features typically reserved for larger models—are standard options here.

Operator Comfort at the Forefront

Inside, the CX38D mirrors the spaciousness and comfort of the CASE D-Series cab while maintaining its zero-tail swing profile. Footrests have been redesigned to free up more floor space, and an increased number of air vents improve ventilation and defogging. Relocating the air-conditioning components to the upper rear spoiler not only preserves zero-tail swing capabilities but also enhances rear visibility.

The cab boasts an upgraded digital display, extra storage compartments for personal items, and new anti-theft technology that removes the need for a second key immobiliser—particularly advantageous for rental companies.

Service Access Without Compromise

Despite its compact dimensions, the CX38D offers outstanding serviceability. Wide-opening engine covers provide easy access, and the entire cab structure can tilt forward, granting technicians direct reach to major components for maintenance or repair.

Integrated Service Solutions and Telematics

Like all CASE mini excavators, the CX38D is backed by CASE Service Solutions, including the CASE Protect extended warranty and CASE Care planned maintenance programme. These offerings reduce maintenance costs and downtime, with flexible coverage and payment options. Services such as fluid sampling and periodic inspections by expert CASE technicians can be tailored to customer needs.

The integrated telematics module allows real-time data sharing, enabling smart alerts and performance monitoring. CASE’s AI-driven algorithms analyse this data to prevent potential issues before they become costly repairs. Dealers benefit from remote machine visibility and can provide proactive maintenance support, while customers using the myCASEConstruction app and portal gain centralised fleet management, jobsite tracking, and performance reporting capabilities.

Market Impact and Appeal

With the CX38D joining the smaller CX35D and CX30D, CASE now offers a mini excavator for every scenario. The ability to deliver the power and reach of a 4-tonne machine without the complexity of an exhaust after-treatment system is a strong selling point, especially for those working to tight budgets and timelines.

Whether in construction, utilities, landscaping, or municipal work, the CX38D provides a robust, compliant, and user-friendly solution that fits seamlessly into a wide range of applications. As CASE continues to expand its compact equipment line, the CX38D stands out as a machine built to meet modern jobsite demands without compromise.
