Geely Building a Seamless Space-to-Earth Mobility Ecosystem

Geely has taken another decisive step in reshaping global mobility with the successful launch of 11 satellites into the fourth orbital belt of its ambitious GEESATCOM constellation.

The launch, carried out from a sea-based platform near Rizhao in Shandong province, brings the total number of satellites in orbit to 41. Each satellite successfully entered its designated orbit, confirming Geely’s steady progress towards a global low-earth orbit (LEO) Internet of Things (IoT) communications network.

This milestone highlights the company’s vision of building an integrated space-to-earth mobility ecosystem that promises to redefine how people and machines move, connect, and interact.

GEESATCOM Constellation

At the heart of this initiative lies Geespace, Geely’s commercial space subsidiary. Geespace is spearheading the GEESATCOM project, designed to deliver a comprehensive global satellite IoT network. Since its inception, Geespace has launched three orbital batches between 2022 and 2024. The latest deployment pushes the project closer to its first-phase goal of 72 satellites, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The company is accelerating its roll-out plan: in the next two months alone, it aims to have 64 operational satellites in orbit, paving the way for near-global IoT coverage, with the only exception being polar regions. Such rapid development underlines Geely’s intent to secure a strong foothold in the evolving satellite communications market.

Transforming industries with LEO IoT

Low-earth orbit satellite networks are fast becoming essential infrastructure for industries that rely on seamless connectivity. GEESATCOM’s applications span a wide spectrum:

  • Connected vehicles: Enabling advanced vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication for safer and more efficient driving.
  • Urban air mobility: Supporting the rise of low-altitude aviation, including drones and air taxis.
  • Emergency response: Providing reliable connectivity during natural disasters and crises when terrestrial networks fail.
  • Maritime transport: Strengthening navigation and operational systems for shipping and logistics.
  • Energy infrastructure: Enhancing monitoring and control of remote energy assets.

Through this multi-sector reach, Geespace is constructing a “always-connected” IoT backbone capable of delivering uninterrupted communication services to global users.

Building trust through partnerships

Geespace’s ambition doesn’t stop at the launch pad. The company has already established partnerships with telecom providers across more than 20 countries in regions including the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Commercial tests have yielded impressive results, achieving a 99.15% success rate and network availability exceeding 99.97%. These figures bolster confidence in Geespace’s technical capabilities and strengthen its reputation in international markets.

Such collaborations ensure GEESATCOM isn’t just a Chinese venture but a truly global infrastructure project aimed at advancing connectivity where it’s needed most.

Laying the foundation for future mobility

The integration of IoT satellite communications with precise positioning technologies is central to Geely’s broader mobility strategy. By fusing satellite data with ground-based systems, Geespace is enabling smarter vehicle automation and enhanced safety features. This includes supporting advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and connected vehicle platforms, giving drivers and passengers a more secure and seamless experience.

A spokesperson from Geely highlighted the importance of this infrastructure: “Our satellite network provides the data backbone for connected mobility. It enhances automation, improves safety, and creates new opportunities for intelligent transportation solutions.”

Driving the green and smart mobility revolution

Geely’s expansion into the skies complements its ongoing commitment to electrification and sustainable mobility. By linking its space-based systems with ground transport innovations, the group is positioning itself as a frontrunner in the global race towards green, intelligent mobility.

The company is investing heavily in next-generation production capabilities, products, and services designed to exceed user expectations. This integrated approach ensures Geely is not only producing advanced vehicles but also providing the digital ecosystem that supports them. In doing so, it places itself at the forefront of the green revolution sweeping through the automotive and mobility sectors.

Geely Auto and its global footprint

Geely Auto Group, founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, has established itself as one of the world’s fastest-growing car manufacturers. With a presence in more than 81 countries, it continues to expand its global footprint by combining quality manufacturing, cutting-edge technology, and sustainable practices.

Its commitment to innovation extends well beyond car production, as the GEESATCOM initiative proves. By aligning terrestrial and space-based assets, Geely is ensuring it stays ahead of industry transformations that are redefining mobility on a global scale.

Bringing innovation to Greece

Closer to home, GEO Mobility Hellas is helping shape the future of mobility in Greece. As the official importer of Geely and Zeekr vehicles, the company is committed to delivering sustainable, high-quality vehicles that embody innovation and comfort. Backed by its parent Union Group, GEO Mobility Hellas aims to play a key role in introducing advanced technologies to the Greek market, ensuring that drivers experience the benefits of connected and intelligent mobility.

The company’s strategy centres on matching the evolving needs of modern consumers by offering products that deliver safety, comfort, and state-of-the-art technology.

A vision that’s taking flight

Geely’s satellite launch marks more than just another milestone in space exploration. It signals the dawn of a new era in integrated mobility, where satellites, vehicles, and data systems converge to create smarter, safer, and more sustainable transportation networks.

By steadily expanding its GEESATCOM constellation and weaving together partnerships across continents, Geely is demonstrating that its vision of a space-to-earth mobility ecosystem isn’t a distant dream but a rapidly unfolding reality.
