Clever post stops signs twisting in the wind
Adding a flat edge to a round sign post has proven to be profitable idea for UK firm SignPost Solutions.
Their new Signstr8 product range prevents signs from twisting. This might not sound like a big problem, but it is saving councils money as they only need to use one post instead of two and signs cannot be twisted by severe winds or vandals, which requires time and manpower to put right.
The Signstr8 is a cheaper alternative to standard square RHS posts and accepts standard clips, base plates and external caps. The posts available in 76mm diameter x 30mm can be galvanised (to ISO 1461), PVC coated (grey or black) or painted and are manufactured to EN 10305-3 and BS EN 12899 standards and complies with relevant passive safety standards, as their moment capacity is significantly lower than that of a standard 89mm x 3.2mm S355 grade steel post.
SignPost Solutions has been at the forefront of innovation in signage for the highways industry for over 40 years, supplying local authorities and keeping roads and drivers safe. So far over twenty councils have adopted the Signstr8 system to reduce costs.
