Australia’s CPB awarded contract to widen M1 Pacific Motorway

Cimic Group subsidiary – CPB Contractors has agreed a contract for widening of a 12km section of the M1 Pacific Motorway in New South Wales, Australia. The construction contract with the state’s Roads & Maritime Services with a value of some US$112 million (AU$145 million).

The upgrade works involves the section from Tuggerah and Doyalson in the Central Coast region. The 12km section will be widened to three lanes in each direction and includes 9km of carriageway reconstruction. There will also be improvements to two key interchanges and the widening of two bridges.

CPB Contractors managing director Román Garrido said: “Our highly experienced team is focused on delivering an efficient and effective construction program, and using proven traffic management and innovative construction methodologies to minimise disruption and maximise safety for road users. Through strategic procurement and partnering arrangements, we will also deliver a value-for-money project that provides opportunities for local workers and businesses.”

The M1 Pacific Motorway is a critical link in the National Land Transport Network and part of the Sydney to Brisbane corridor, one of the busiest transport corridors in Australia.
Construction is expected to start in the coming weeks with project completion expected in 2019.
