Oshkosh Corporation, a leading manufacturer of specialty vehicles and vehicle bodies and the parent company of JLG Industries, Inc., was recently honored by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the 2018 World’s Most Ethical Companies®.

This is the third consecutive year that JLG parent company Oshkosh Corporation has been listed as a World’s Most Ethical Company, highlighting the company’s strong ethical culture. Oshkosh is one of only 135 companies, representing 57 industry sectors in 23 countries on five continents, named to this esteemed list.

“Doing the right thing is who we are; it’s the Oshkosh Way, and I’m proud of our more than 15,000 team members around the globe for helping us earn this prestigious award. We take our ethical culture very seriously and focus on our core values of citizenship, honesty, accountability, integrity and respect in everything we do,” said Wilson R. Jones, Oshkosh Corporation president and chief executive officer. “A company that does the right thing benefits everyone – our team members, our customers, our suppliers, our investors, and our communities.”

JLG president Frank Nerenhausen echoes Jones’ statement, “Our corporate values run from the parent company right through to the segment level. JLG is exceptionally proud to be a part of this organization and the ethical behaviours it embodies.”

This year’s class of honorees had record levels of involvement with their stakeholders and their communities around the world. Measuring and improving culture; leading authentically; and committing to transparency, diversity, and inclusion were all priorities for honourees.

“Global corporations can be one of society’s strongest forces to improve the human condition. This year we saw companies increasingly finding their voice. The World’s Most Ethical Companies continued to show exemplary leadership,” explained Ethisphere’s CEO, Timothy Erblich. “I congratulate everyone in the Oshkosh Corporation Family for being recognized as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies.”

The World’s Most Ethical Companies assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient® (EQ) framework, which offers a quantitative way to assess a company’s performance in an objective, consistent, and standardized manner. The information collected provides a comprehensive sampling of definitive criteria of core competencies rather than all aspects of corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance, and ethics.

Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35 percent); corporate citizenship and responsibility (20 percent); culture of ethics (20 percent); governance (15 percent); and leadership, innovation and reputation (10 percent) and provided to all companies who participate in the process.
