McCann leading the way on Highways England Health and Safety Passport scheme
Nottingham-based civil and electrical engineering firm McCann is playing a crucial role in educating fellow highway professionals by achieving relevant accreditations in order to deliver the new industry-standard training for the Highways England Health and Safety Passport Scheme.
McCann, an award-winning company responsible for the delivery of a range of major infrastructure projects nationwide, has been approved by awarding body Lantra to deliver the new Highways England Common Induction course that underpins the new Highways England Health and Safety Passport Scheme.
The Highways England Common Induction course was developed to promote best practice standards including Safety, Health, Wellbeing and Environment management. The course raises awareness of the significant risks on the strategic road network, helps eliminate repetitive general site inductions and aims to set common safety standards.
Highways England require that by March 2019, all construction workers on the strategic road network will have a Safety Passport which securely holds all their key ‘authority to work’ information.
It is estimated that at least 50,000 construction workers will require to have the Highways England Common Induction course prior to applying for their Safety Passport.
