Pouch launches a smarter alternative for Commercial Auto Insurance

Pouch today launched a simple, no-hassle commercial auto insurance that rewards small businesses for safe driving.

Aimed at contractors, landscapers, florists, and other small businesses that depend on a fleet of vehicles, Pouch offers free tracking software for every vehicle insured, helping small business owners better manage and protect one of their most valuable assets while earning discounted rates and other goodies. Now available in Illinois, Pouch will be rolling out to additional states in the coming months.

“Unlike traditional commercial insurance, we’re not just here when you have a claim to report. We make it affordable to get information that keeps your employees and your business assets safe,” said Steve McKay, Founder and CEO of Pouch. “If your employees are driving poorly and putting your business at risk, you’ll know. And when your employees are driving safely, we’ll reward you. It’s an entirely different way to think about insurance — a true ally to help you keep an eye on your business.”

The commercial auto insurance market is beset by an arduous sign-up process and rates based on who you are, not how you actually drive. Pouch bypasses the typical sign-up process, which can involve dozens of pages thick with indecipherable jargon, by delivering an instant quote and a clear path to purchase in just a few clicks. Customers provide basic info and Pouch can autofill the rest. At the same time, Pouch replaces the broad buckets that usually dictate rates with actual data about a customer’s driving behaviour, offering lower rates for safer driving.

Free GPS vehicle tracking, the first of many rewards Pouch will offer, makes that possible. This software gives business owners more visibility over where their trucks and vans are located at any given time, whether drivers are following safe practices, and which driving routes are most efficient. The resulting analytics offer new insights on employee driving behaviour that are key to training. With a closer eye on some of their most valuable assets, business owners can reduce risk and insurance rates. Pouch partners with a variety of vehicle tracking providers to make sure customers have access to the best services and can use the product that’s right for them and their business.

“Pouch proves you can have a partner that actually invests in making your business stronger,” said Gloria Guntinas, COO of Pouch. “Vehicles are revenue generators for small businesses. They make deliveries. They transport tools and parts. They get craftsmen to job sites. By giving every customer free vehicle tracking software and rewarding good drivers, we help business owners improve safety and decrease risk, save money, and grow their businesses.”

For independent insurance agents, Pouch represents a new commercial auto market that’s easy to use and competitively priced. Pouch makes agents’ jobs easier through the GPS vehicle tracking provided to business customers.

Pouch was founded by a team of insurance veterans who have been working with telematics since they were invented. They have experience both in making insurance telematics work and in making them fair.
