Mabey Hire launches EVE digital design solution for temporary works

Mabey Hire, the temporary works specialist, is delighted to announce the launch of EVE – an exciting new design solution that utilises immersive technology. Designed to bring the world of temporary works to life, EVE is already enhancing Mabey Hire’s digital collaboration with its customers.

Building on Mabey Hire’s commitment to digital innovation, EVE has been developed to provide engineers and contractors with a truly unique experience, as well as having a positive impact on the wider temporary works industry. Using the latest in immersive technology and designed to integrate with BIM workflows (including Autodesk Revit, Civils3D and Navisworks), EVE allows users to fully engage themselves in their project.

From taking a virtual walk through the construction site and/or existing structure to physically visualising and exploring the engineered temporary works scheme in-situ, all without leaving their desk.

Enabling Mabey Hire’s engineers to design better and more efficiently than ever before, EVE will also be key in providing all teams involved in a project – from engineers and contractors to clients – with greater understanding and insight into the scheme. The ability to really see, explore and interact with a temporary works scheme will help engineers to more effectively spot potential issues or design clashes and, more importantly, visualise potential solutions.

EVE can also be instrumental in helping to improve the safety of workers once on site. Using EVE, construction and installation teams can explore the temporary works scheme as it will appear on site, before they get to site, effectively offering a dress rehearsal of the works being carried out, including project phasing. Users can easily highlight and plan around any potential risks or hazards, make annotations within the virtual environment and view model data, including weights and dimensions.

Speaking about the launch, Dave Holland, Monitoring and Technical Director at Mabey Hire, said: “Digital engineering has long been heavily embedded within our business – we’re always striving to stay at the forefront of industry innovation. For example, we were the first temporary works provider to receive the BSI Kitemark™ for BIM, as well as BIM Level Two certification for Design and Construction.

“EVE is the latest example of this commitment to digitisation and innovation, further enhancing our collaboration with customers and enabling us to provide the best possible engineered solution for their individual project needs. Helping to bring a project to life, it works to push the existing benefits of 3D modelling even further, creating a more immersive experience. As well as being a great client engagement tool and helping to engender client confidence in the temporary works design, we also hope that EVE will serve as catalyst for further digital innovation within the temporary works industry – a sector that has previously been somewhat overlooked.”

Mabey Hire’s EVE has been shortlisted in the 2021 CN Specialist Awards, ‘Innovation of the Year’ category.
