Siemens deploys Theum Worldwide for Knowledge Delivery

In an era of radical change in which entire industries face the unprecedented challenge of transforming their processes to embrace a digital future, the ability to efficiently access and use corporate knowledge is critical to success.

In a large enterprise like Siemens, it is an especially complex effort. In this context, Siemens chose to deploy Theum worldwide as its platform for automated transformation, delivery, and task-oriented accessibility of knowledge.

The project started in June 2021, and by November it was already possible for all areas of the business to go online. Participating process areas included Compliance, IT, Export Control, Financial Reporting, Project Management, Real Estate, Commercial Guidelines, Contract Law, Customs, and others. In parallel, Siemens began migrating its documented knowledge to SharePoint Online, which will serve as its preferred document management system going forward.

Key functions of the knowledge platform important to Siemens were:

  • Automatic update from source files as they are modified
  • Access via standard browser without apps, viewers, or document launching
  • Optimized experience for mobile devices
  • Powerful, automatically generated knowledge navigation
  • Ready-to-use, complete answers for every search query
  • AI-supported contextual guidance

Olga Fixl, Compliance Professional at Siemens, summarized: “Theum gives our users intuitive access to the exact knowledge they need at any time, and it’s always up-to-date. This makes Theum different from all other technologies we know about and is one of the main reasons we chose it for worldwide use.”

Barbara Niedermaier, IT Project Manager at Siemens added: “Using Theum, we were able to deploy a solution that makes comprehensive parts of our corporate knowledge accessible online for responsible users worldwide in only a short time. The users are very satisfied with Theum’s user-friendly functions and its precise, context-oriented access to documented knowledge. Based on the positive feedback received and given the wide variety of additional functions provided by the platform, we are already planning to extend Theum into other usage areas.”
