NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint to Revolutionise Real-Time Digital Twins

NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint to Revolutionise Real-Time Digital Twins

NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint to Revolutionise Real-Time Digital Twins

NVIDIA has once again raised the bar for industrial digitalisation with its newly announced Omniverse™ Blueprint. This innovative framework empowers software developers to enable real-time, interactive digital twins in industries ranging from aerospace and automotive to energy and manufacturing.

By leveraging NVIDIA’s advanced AI and physics technologies, the blueprint promises to revolutionise computer-aided engineering (CAE), drastically reducing costs and accelerating time to market.

Key players such as Altair, Ansys, Cadence, and Siemens are already integrating this cutting-edge technology into their workflows. By harnessing the blueprint’s capabilities, these industry leaders are helping their customers optimise designs, reduce energy consumption, and achieve 1,200x faster simulations compared to traditional methods.

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, encapsulated the vision: “We built Omniverse so that everything can have a digital twin. Omniverse Blueprints are reference pipelines that connect NVIDIA Omniverse with AI technologies, enabling leading CAE software developers to build ground-breaking digital twin workflows that will transform industrial digitalisation, from design and manufacturing to operations, for the world’s largest industries.”

Transforming Fluid Dynamics with Virtual Wind Tunnels

Among the blueprint’s many applications, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations stand out as a game-changer. Traditionally, CFD workflows—critical for designing cars, airplanes, and even ships—could take weeks or months to complete. With the Omniverse Blueprint, that’s no longer the case.

At SC24, NVIDIA and Luminary Cloud showcased a ground-breaking virtual wind tunnel powered by the blueprint. This real-time simulation tool enables users to visualise and test fluid dynamics interactively, even allowing modifications to the vehicle model mid-simulation. Such advancements herald a new era of CAE exploration, where engineers can iterate on designs faster than ever before.

The Technology Behind the Blueprint

Creating real-time physics digital twins requires two core components: unparalleled physics solver performance and the ability to visualise large-scale datasets in real time. The NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint delivers both by unifying three pillars of NVIDIA technology:

  • NVIDIA CUDA-X™ Libraries: These accelerate physics solvers for high-speed performance.
  • NVIDIA Modulus Physics-AI Framework: This trains and deploys AI models to generate accurate flow fields.
  • NVIDIA Omniverse APIs: These provide 3D data interoperability and real-time, RTX-enabled visualisation.

Developers can adopt these components individually or as a complete package, seamlessly integrating them into existing tools to unlock new possibilities.

Redefining Speed and Precision

Leading the charge, Ansys has applied the Omniverse Blueprint to its Fluent fluid simulation software. Running on 320 NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchips at the Texas Advanced Computing Center, Ansys achieved a remarkable feat: completing a 2.5-billion-cell automotive simulation in just over six hours. By contrast, the same task would have taken nearly a month on traditional x86 CPU cores.

“By integrating NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint with Ansys software, we’re enabling our customers to tackle increasingly complex and detailed simulations more quickly and accurately,” said Ajei Gopal, president and CEO of Ansys. “Our collaboration is pushing the boundaries of engineering and design across multiple industries.”

Real-Time Aerodynamic Simulations

Luminary Cloud is also harnessing the blueprint’s potential. Using NVIDIA Modulus, the company developed a simulation AI model that learned the relationship between airflow fields and car geometry.

This model runs simulations orders of magnitude faster than traditional solvers, enabling real-time aerodynamic simulations that can be visualised using NVIDIA Omniverse APIs.

Expanding the Ecosystem

The blueprint’s transformative capabilities are catching the attention of other industry giants, including Altair, Cadence, Hexagon, Siemens, and Trane Technologies. These companies are exploring its integration into their respective applications to enhance simulation capabilities and streamline workflows.

Additionally, Rescale, a cloud-based platform for scientific and engineering breakthroughs, is leveraging the Omniverse Blueprint to simplify AI model training and deployment. The Rescale platform automates the entire application-to-hardware stack, allowing organisations to generate training data, prepare models, and optimise simulations with ease.

Cloud Compatibility and Scalability

Flexibility is a hallmark of the Omniverse Blueprint. It is compatible with all leading cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

This cloud compatibility ensures that developers and organisations can access and deploy the technology from virtually anywhere, whether they are using NVIDIA DGX™ Cloud or other infrastructures.

A Glimpse into the Future

The NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint is more than just a tool; it’s a paradigm shift for industries dependent on CAE. By dramatically accelerating simulation times and enabling real-time visualisation, the blueprint is poised to redefine how products are designed, tested, and brought to market. From reducing energy consumption to fostering innovation, the potential benefits are immense.

As more companies adopt this revolutionary framework, the possibilities for digital twins and real-time engineering will only continue to expand. NVIDIA’s latest innovation is a testament to its commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and reshaping industries on a global scale.

Transforming Industries, One Blueprint at a Time

NVIDIA’s Omniverse Blueprint is not just a technological advancement; it’s a catalyst for change. By bridging the gap between physics-based simulations and real-time visualisation, it empowers industries to innovate faster, reduce costs, and achieve unparalleled efficiency.

The future of engineering and design has never looked brighter, and NVIDIA is leading the charge.
