Eaton and Xendee Elevating Microgrid Intelligence and Smart Energy

Eaton and Xendee have teamed up, introducing a sophisticated, AI-driven microgrid solution that’s poised to redefine energy resilience, operational efficiency and cost-saving strategies for both new and existing systems.

Eaton and Xendee’s collaboration brings together Eaton’s sturdy microgrid hardware and seasoned engineering services with Xendee’s AI-powered Model Predictive Control software. This winning combination facilitates continuous, real-time optimisation of microgrid operations through AI-forecasted alternatives, enhancing performance while easing the transition to smarter energy infrastructure.

Xendee’s hardware‑agnostic platform supports over 27 different distributed energy technologies, from solar and battery storage to nuclear and combined heat and power, empowering operators with exceptional flexibility across diverse deployment scenarios.

Driving Energy Savings, Resilience and Sustainability

According to the International Energy Agency, deploying AI across buildings alone could slash energy consumption by a staggering 300 terawatt‑hours annually. Eaton and Xendee are enabling customers to harness that potential by intelligently managing onsite energy sources to meet demand sustainably, fortify resilience, and significantly lower operating costs.

Fueling Innovation Through Strategic Investment

Eaton didn’t stop at collaboration, it led Xendee’s Series B funding round to hasten the rollout of AI-powered tools for distributed energy resources (DERs).

This strategic investment is steering Xendee’s next growth chapter, strengthening their capability to deliver advanced, scalable microgrid systems.

Voices from the Frontline

“Together with Xendee, we’re unlocking new ways to help customers maximise the functionality and value of their microgrid investments across North America and Europe,” said Angie McMillin, President of Energy Solutions and Services at Eaton. “We’re confident that uniting Eaton’s proven microgrid expertise, intelligent power management solutions and services with Xendee’s advanced digital optimisation technology will better position microgrid operators to seize the opportunities created by the energy transition.”

“Our partnership with Eaton allows us to provide a full‑suite solution for microgrids by combining Xendee’s design and Model Predictive Control software and distributed energy modelling expertise with Eaton’s control hardware and expertise, providing microgrid project owners and developers what they need to implement systems at scale and maximise their return on assets,” said Adib Nasle, Co‑Founder and CEO of Xendee.

Knowledge Meets Innovation

At RE+ 2025, one of the world’s most prominent clean‑energy gatherings in Las Vegas, both Eaton and Xendee are front and centre:

  • Eaton occupies booth V8071, showcasing microgrid capabilities and its “Everything as a Grid” philosophy. The company also leads three educational sessions aimed at guiding communities and businesses on reducing energy costs and environmental impacts.
  • Xendee presents two focused sessions: one on a phased, standardised approach to powering data centres via distributed energy, and another exploring the shift from PV‑only systems to fully integrated microgrids that maximise resilience and affordability.

What’s Novel Here?

  • Seamless integration: Eaton’s hardware and engineering know‑how meet Xendee’s AI and modelling prowess in a truly unified solution.
  • Hardware neutrality: With a platform supporting a vast array of DERs, users avoid vendor lock‑in and maintain flexibility over technology choices.
  • Operational agility: AI‑driven, real-time system adjustments drive cost savings, emissions reductions and longer equipment lifespan.
  • Scalable finance: Eaton’s Series B investment underscores strong confidence and infuses momentum into Xendee’s strategic expansion.
  • Influential platforms: The joint presence at RE+ 2025 amplifies dissemination of their integrated approach across industry stakeholders.

The Bigger Picture

  • Microgrid growth: Energy users such as data centres, healthcare institutions, universities, manufacturing and military sites increasingly rely on microgrids for energy continuity and sustainability.
  • AI’s frontier role: Cutting-edge AI is transforming microgrid functionality, from dynamic load balancing and predictive maintenance to optimised energy storage use and predictive cost avoidance.
  • Strategic relevance: This partnership aligns perfectly with global electrification and decarbonisation trends, offering investors, policymakers and industry leaders a clear roadmap toward smarter, resilient energy infrastructure.

Microgrids Powered by AI

Eaton and Xendee’s collaboration stands as a meaningful stride in evolving microgrid ecosystems.

Together, they’re bringing resilience, intelligence, and sustainability to the forefront of the energy transition, making it smoother, smarter, and more scalable for communities and industries alike.
