Building Momentum For Volvo’s Next Generation Equipment In Korea
Korea Sales and Service (KSS) closed the 2025 Volvo Customer Experience Day with a confident display of technical progress, operational excellence and cross-brand cooperation.
Held on 12-13 November at the Changwon Plant, the event brought together more than 160 customers and employees from across the country. It offered a rare opportunity to see Volvo’s New Generation machines ahead of their official debut, while illustrating how Volvo Group Korea’s integrated approach is shaping the next phase of construction equipment development.
A Vision Built On Electrification, Digitalisation And Sustainability
The two-day programme opened with a Technology Roadmap Session that outlined Volvo’s long-term direction. Participants explored how innovation in electrification, automation and connected technologies is guiding the company’s portfolio. The session detailed how enhanced collaboration between Technology and Operations within Volvo Group Korea (VGK) is strengthening the introduction of advanced systems designed to deliver safer, more sustainable and more productive fleets.
With global construction equipment markets increasingly shaped by environmental policy and productivity demands, Volvo’s commitment to electrified powertrains and smart machine monitoring has become a strategic priority. The roadmap highlighted ongoing research in energy-efficient drivetrains, integrated fleet management platforms, remote diagnostics and autonomous functionalities. By combining local engineering expertise in Korea with global research initiatives, VGK is accelerating the rollout of technologies that support customer sustainability goals.
Internal Synergy Strengthening Customer-Centric Technology Adoption
A central theme throughout the event was the stronger alignment between Engineering and Operations teams in Korea. Enhanced coordination is enabling more efficient prototyping, testing and validation processes, shortening the path between R&D and market delivery. This synergy also ensures that customer feedback is reflected in product updates more quickly.
Attendees gained insight into how VGK teams are synchronising production, quality control and technical development to support a unified customer experience. With the Changwon facility producing more than half of Volvo’s excavators globally, the increased collaboration is positioning Korea as a strategic hub for next-generation product launches.

Cross-Sales Collaboration With VTK And VFSK
Beyond technical and operational alignment, cross-sales efforts between KSS, Volvo Truck Korea (VTK) and Volvo Financial Service Korea (VFSK) were given a strong platform at the event. These partnerships are intended to improve the customer value proposition by integrating equipment, transport and finance solutions.
Customers were invited to explore offerings from VTK and VFSK through dedicated booths and discussions. By coordinating commercial teams across the group, Volvo is strengthening its ability to provide tailored packages covering machines, financing structures, after-sales support and fleet management technologies.
Strong Customer Engagement And Early Market Response
Interest in the New Generation Excavator was particularly strong, with more than 100 customers participating in pre-orders for the first quarter of 2026. This early commitment signals the high level of confidence users have in Volvo’s engineering direction.
The product preview allowed customers to evaluate refined hydraulics, improved fuel efficiency, enhanced operator visibility and upgraded digital monitoring capabilities. Live demonstrations offered a hands-on understanding of how cross-group knowledge sharing has elevated performance benchmarks.
Inside Volvo’s Global Excavator Hub In Changwon
The Changwon Plant tour remained a highlight for many visitors. As the global centre responsible for manufacturing over 55 percent of Volvo’s excavator output, the site is known for world-class precision engineering and rigorous quality assurance.
Guests observed the application of lean manufacturing, robotic automation systems, structural testing procedures and digital inspection tools. These insights reinforced the plant’s reputation for delivering consistency, reliability and innovation at scale. The tour also underscored why internal collaboration plays such a crucial role in maintaining Volvo’s longstanding manufacturing standards.
Immersive Demonstrations Of Next-Generation Equipment
The exclusive first look at Volvo’s New Generation line-up generated considerable anticipation. Attendees watched live demonstrations that showcased improvements in power, responsiveness and refined control systems. Test drives allowed operators to experience upgraded cabins, new user interfaces and advanced telematics that support real-time productivity analysis.
The new models, scheduled for release in the first half of 2026, have been shaped through a combination of global R&D and local market insight. By leveraging the capabilities of Engineering, Sales, Technology and Operations in Korea, Volvo aims to ensure these machines meet the specific needs of Korean contractors and infrastructure developers.

Customer Zones Encouraging Early Business Discussions
KSS also created multiple areas where customers could engage directly with specialists. Lounges, photo zones and partner booths invited visitors to explore machine options, ask technical questions and build relationships with Volvo teams.
These informal spaces helped facilitate early discussions on integrated solutions, from equipment packages to financing plans. By bringing commercial and technical incentives together, the customer zones played a key role in encouraging pre-orders and long-term interest.
Leadership Perspectives On Innovation And Value Creation
Senior executives offered their thoughts on the event’s significance and Volvo’s commitment to the Korean market.
Myungkwan Lee, Head of Market Korea, said: “We will continue to deliver innovative new-generation products and customer-centric solutions that enhance Korean customers’ business value and productivity as a trusted business partner.”
Terry Hong, Head of Operation Changwon, added: “We are committed to delivering the best quality and innovation from our Changwon facility, ensuring every product meets the highest standards for our valued customers.”
