Australia awards contract to build 4-lane underpass under Brisbane Airport Runway
Construction of a 4-lane underpass beneath the new runway project at Brisbane Airport in Australia, valued at AU$120 million, has been awarded to Australian contractor McConnell Dowell.
The project to build the reinforced concrete underpass forms a significant structural element of the new runway project, which will allow vehicles to travel under the taxiways that will connect the new runway to the domestic and international terminals, and the existing runway system. This is necessary to ensure continued access to key airport facilities such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service, General Aviation Terminal, and the Acacia Street viewing area.
The works are expected to begin in March 2017 with completion in August 2018.
A larger Airfield Works package will be the final and largest works package, the Airfield Works.
