ARC Industry Forum Asia looks at Accelerating Digital Transformation post-COVID
The annual ARC Industry Forum Asia titled Accelerating Digital Transformation in a Post-COVID World, from July 13-15, 2021, is going virtual.
This theme is particularly relevant for the turbulent times we are going through. ARC’s Asia Forum will feature executive speakers from several industries to share their experiences in digital transformation, smart manufacturing, smart cities, and Industry 4.0.
Due to the virtual format, this year’s Asia Forum features more global executive speakers and end user participation than ever before. In a pandemic-stricken world, online events and webinars have become the norm, but if there are too many in quick succession it loses its novelty. Hence, it is more practical to host a combined virtual Asia Forum, instead of hosting separate Forums across Asia (India, Japan, China, and SEA) in a short span of 2-3 months. We’ve collaborated and pooled our resources to structure a Forum that is insightful and informative.
ARC’s Global Forums
ARC’s recent virtual Forums in the USA and Europe have focused on the digital transformation of industry and infrastructure, and this will be the recurring theme at the Asia Forum too. It is evident that targeted and effective application of digital technologies continue to lead to tangible business improvements at leading companies around the world.
As we’re learning, digital technologies have also shown to be critically important for companies to function effectively with reduced staff during the current global COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ripple Effects of the Pandemic
The new normal created by the pandemic is impacting companies and propelling them to respond faster and become more agile and operationally resilient. It is now imperative to leverage technologies for remote operations, collaborate across geographies, and improve project outcomes.
The competitive distance between those capable of leveraging digital technology and their less digitally evolved peers has dramatically increased. The pandemic forced organizations to restructure work processes (remote operations, social spacing and so on), and the subsequent problems of visibility and supply chain flexibility accelerated the demand for edge computing.
The pandemic also fuelled concerns about plant operations, maintenance, and fulfilling market demands. During these tough times, operational resilience has become all-important. OT, IT, and ET teams are honing their skills and capabilities and transforming real-time operations.
There is a lot more common ground shared by IT and OT now, and the boundaries are dissolving as the remote workforce and teams need to connect and collaborate seamlessly.
From IT/OT convergence, we are now moving to IT/OT fusion.
