Sydney Harbour set for an iconic new development
Global property developer the Wanda Group has unveiled its vision for One Circular Quay, a large-scale, mixed-use development located on Australia’s famed Sydney Harbour that will transform the city’s skyline and usher in a new era of luxury residences and accommodations.
Developed by Wanda One Sydney, the project will encompass two adjacent towers. The first is a 59-storey residential tower, One Circular Quay, with a planned 190 apartments of unprecedented luxury. The second tower is a 28-storey high-rise that will house a 5 star, 181-key Wanda Vista Hotel – the first new 5-star hotel project to be built on Circular Quay since 1998. At the base between the two towers will be a carefully detailed 518 square metre (5,576 square foot) area designed as a cultural revitalisation of public space, including boutique high-end luxury retail and public art spaces.
With views of iconic landmarks including the Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, the blue harbour waters and beyond, One Circular Quay’s position will mark the most historically significant and visually stunning part of Sydney. Circular Quay is the site of the first European settlement in Australia, and today is the gateway to one of the world’s most contemporary and cosmopolitan cities.
Leading the revitalisation of Circular Quay with this development and future evolutions of Sydney from a Global Prime City into one of the world’s Super Prime Cities.
Wanda is hailing One Circular Quay as the most outstanding offering in this unique position, with the value of the residences to set a new benchmark for Australian property. It is on a par with super prime property developments such as New York’s One Hundred East Fifty Third and One57; London’s One Hyde Park and Chelsea Barracks; Hong Kong’s Opus and 39 Conduit Road; and Singapore’s The Marq and Le Nouvel Ardmore.
In addition to Sydney’s iconic new development, the Group is expanding its international portfolio to include luxury mixed-use developments across world-class cities such as London’s One Nine Elms; Beverly Hills’ One Beverly Hills; Chicago’s Vista Tower; and Istanbul’s Wanda Vista Istanbul; as well as The Jewel Residences on Australia’s Gold Coast.
Designed by world-renowned architecture firm Kerry Hill Architects, the One Circular Quay residential tower will be positioned to the northeast to maximise the iconic views of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Constructed using sandstone and glass, the tower’s façade will directly reference the historical materials of the neighbouring precincts, such as The Rocks and the CBD’s Financial District. The interior design will create a serene and elegant environment to complement the sophisticated architecture, using a colour palette of champagne, chocolates and creams with accents of gold, bronze, marble and finely crafted timbers. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer residents a light-filled sanctuary with unparalleled vistas of the Sydney cityscape.
Sydney-based PTW Architects lead as Executive Architects for the entire project, while the 28-storey Wanda Vista Hotel tower is being designed by Australia’s Crone Architects, in collaboration with globally renowned architects Kengo Kuma & Associates from Tokyo, Japan.
Demolition commenced in late March 2017, with construction completion planned for mid-2022.
