Fort Portal-Kamwenge Road in Uganda commissioned
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda has commissioned the 66km Fort Portal-Kamwenge road. This road runs from Kamwenge District to Fort Portal town in Kabarole District.
The contractor was the China Railway Seventh Group, and the project cost was US$ 33.3 million, which was financed by the World Bank and the Government of Uganda.
The Fort Portal-Kamwenge section connects western Uganda to the northern corridor and the Democratic Republic of Congo, serves places of high tourism attraction like Kibale National Park, improves access to an area of high agriculture and livestock potential, facilitates mining activities, and facilitate the development of the hydropower plant at River Mpanga.
