Volvo dealer goes Green with Carbon Neutral Articulated Haulers
Independent Swiss dealer Robert Aebi is offering Volvo customers a chance to show their care for the environment by buying a βGoGreenβ articulated hauler β produced in the construction industryβs first manufacturing plant powered entirely by renewable energy and issued with a carbon offset certificate from the Fair Recycling foundation for the shipment from Sweden to Switzerland.
The βGoGreenβ package from Swiss dealer Robert Aebi is enabling customers to make a contribution to protecting the environment with the purchase of any new Volvo articulated hauler. This package includes a warranty extension and a selection of service options, but most importantly, a carbon offset certificate from Swiss climate protection foundation Fair Recycling. The certificate covers the transport of the machine from the factory in Sweden to the jobsite of the customerβs choice, plus a certain number of operating hours.
To signify their climate-conscious credentials, articulated haulers sold with the βGoGreenβ package will feature a special decal reading βMy hauler is greenβ in German, French or Italian β according to customer preference β above an endorsement from Fair Recycling. The entire machine can also be painted green on request.
βOur customers are not only looking for machines that are quieter, more economical and more efficient; they also want us to take responsibility for the world around us,β says Roger Schenk, business unit leader for construction at Robert Aebi. βA certain amount of carbon emissions is still unavoidable in todayβs construction industry β even with the latest technology β but there are things we can do to help.β
A green partnership
As part of Robert Aebiβs move to become more engaged in climate and environmental issues, the dealer has signed an agreement with Fair Recycling for three years. Behind every carbon credit certificate issued by the foundation for the Volvo βGoGreenβ articulated haulers will be a refrigerator. Fair Recycling works to combine education with the practical recycling of refrigerators containing harming CFC greenhouse gases. Each refrigerator recycled under the agreement will recover approximately 50kg of raw materials and save the equivalent of a tonne of COΒ².
βEnvironmental care and sustainability are components of a journey that always has new goals to reach. We at Robert Aebi would like to make a contribution through our agreement with Fair Recycling to a cleaner future,β Schenk says.
A major carbon neutral milestone
This journey that Schenk refers to, however, starts much earlier. All of Volvoβs market-leading articulated haulers β from the 25-tonne capacity A25G to the gigantic 55-tonne A60H β are produced in BraΓ₯s, Sweden, which in 2014 became the companyβs and the construction equipment industryβs first production facility to be powered entirely by renewable energy.
The first Volvo βGoGreenβ articulated hauler, an A25G, has now rolled off the production line in BraΓ₯s and made its way to the Robert Aebi headquarters in Regensdorf outside ZΓΌrich practically carbon neutral.
βItβs important not only to produce haulers in an environmentally friendly way but that this same care for our world is also reflected in the marketplace,β Schenk concludes. βAs Volvo CEβs business partner in Switzerland we are continuing this value and we hope that these green Volvo articulated haulers will now be at home in many jobsites around Switzerland.β
