McCann wins £1.2m contract for Street Furniture Electrical Services to Swindon Council, UK
Nottingham-based civil and electrical engineering firm, McCann, has won an estimated £1.2m contract to provide street furniture electrical connection services to Swindon Borough Council for up to 3 years, following a successful tender process.
The win follows McCann’s National Electrical Registration Scheme (NERS) accreditation enabling the company to officially register as an Independent Connections Provider (ICP) – operated by Lloyd’s Register. ICP accreditation through NERS allows registered companies to carry out contestable service connection works as defined by the UK’s Distribution Network Operators.
As part of the Swindon Borough Council contract, McCann will be responsible for undertaking low voltage connections, transfers and disconnections for the council’s street furniture section, including street lighting, signs and bollards, signals and bus shelters.
McCann’s ICP Director, Steve Adcock, is particularly pleased with this, the company’s most recent successful tender.
“Being awarded the contract to carry out Swindon’s ICP works for its street furniture is hugely satisfying as it really plays to our strengths as a company,” says Steve. “We pride ourselves on being able to install and manage electrical connections safely and securely, to the highest possible standards. We have the in-house skills and understanding to deliver even the most demanding of contracts and we are looking forward to forging a strong relationship with Swindon Borough Council over the next few years.”
