The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has applied for financing from the African Development Bank towards the cost of the Ethiopia Integrated Road Transport Programme Phase-I, Jimma – Chida & Sodo – Sawla Road Upgrading Project – 160.7 km
It is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the works contracts.
The road projects are entirely located in Southern Nations and Nationalities People Regional State (SNNPRS).
- The Sodo-Sawla Lot 1 Road Section – 86.3 km: Starts at Sodo town and passes through the towns of Sodo, Gasuba, Selam Ber, and ends at Dinke Town. The contract includes construction of a link road to Gasuba town in order that this important town is not isolated from the main thoroughfare.
- The Sodo-Sawla Lot 2 Road Section – 74.4 km: Starts at Dinke Town and passes Morka, Zagi-awando, finally ending at Sawla.
The period of construction is estimated at 48 calendar months, including a 4-month mobilisation period.
Prequalification of Contractors
The Ethiopian Roads Authority, acting for the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia as the Executing Agency intends to prequalify eligible contractors and/or firms for the above construction works contracts.
It is expected that Invitations for Bid will be made in April 2017.
