Bangladesh High Capacity Railway Project promoted by DP Rail Ltd.

A joint venture team consisting of Rendel Consultancy and OTB Engineering in association with HR Wallingford, Railway Engineering Associated and BCL Associates are to provide the engineering services for a 240km freight railway planned for Bangladesh.

The team was appointed by the British company DP Rail who signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Railway last month.

The implementation studies carried out by the Rendel/OTB joint venture will start this month and will take 18 months, and will finalise the route alignment and design criteria as well as the costs of building the railway, leading up to production of design and build documents.

Rendel Project Director Keith Taylor said “Rendel and our partners are proud to demonstrate our expertise in this geographical region as well as on previous railway projects. The combined expertise of our team offers DP Rail a unique resource that has been committed to solving Bangladesh’s transport infrastructure needs for more than 25 years.”
