Ramirent tests Digital Rental Center solution at the Construction Site

Ramirent is now testing RamiShare, a new app and rental system that will ensure more environmentally friendly and more productive construction sites. The solution involves the establishment of a digital “rental center” on the construction site itself.

Ramirent’s pilot project is designed for construction sites in need of rental equipment of a certain size and scope, and the whole concept is now being tested for the first time by LAB Entreprenør AS on the construction site of the new County Hall in Bergen city center.

RENTAL VIA THE RAMISHARE APP

The solution is to assemble rental machinery at a fixed location on the construction site where Ramirent has previously investigated which type of equipment will be most in demand during the construction period both by the main contractor, large and small subcontractors and relevant craftsmen. Thus, customers will have access to a customized equipment on the actual construction site.

“We have developed a single click rental app, which we currently refer to as ‘RamiShare’.  Here, customers can rent the machine directly at any time of the day with just a click or two. They, themselves, decide when the rent starts and ends, and at the end of the rental period you only park the machine in the dedicated area on the construction site before terminating the rent using the app, and the invoice for the used period is sent out,” Zahl explains.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY: “The main advantage of the new system is that it is a very environmentally friendly and sustainable solution where you have almost eliminated all rental transportion in and out of the construction site and to and from the construction project,” explains the manager of CC Rental in Ramirent, Lars Magne Zahl.

ALMOST NO TRANSPORTATION

The main advantage of the new system is that it is a very environmentally friendly and sustainable solution where almost all rental transportation in and out of the construction site and to and from the construction project has been eliminated. In addition, it is both flexible and time- and cost-saving for customers who only pay for the period they rent the machine and not when it is not in use.

“Here the machines are available when they are needed, and there is no need for as many machines to do the job as before, as more people will share the same equipment,” explains the CC Rental manager, who points out that two months of testing it indicates  that this will be a system that can now be offered to several large construction sites in large parts of Norway.

“Yes, we are very satisfied with the test period, and a solution like this means that we at Ramirent are no longer as dependent on proximity to our own locations as before and thus can expand our geographical impact area,” says Lars Zahl.

SATISFIED USER: ”We are located on a large and cramped construction site in the center, and by using the new system we get far fewer players to deal with and far less traffic through the construction area,” explains Edvin Hesjedal from LAB Entreprenør AS; here with Ramirent sales representative Ingunn Pedersen.

FIRST IN NORWAY

The solution is provided by Irdeto, the world leader in digital platform cybersecurity.  According to Stefan Öttl, Director Business Development, Off-Highway at Irdeto, this is the first time this system has been used in Norway.

“We have spent two years developing this particular solution, which has already been used with great success in Austria and elsewhere in Europe, as well as in the US. We are now trying out the solution for the first time in Norway, in collaboration with Ramirent, and we look forward to further collaboration with the Norwegian rental company,” says Öttl.

SUCCESSFUL TEST IN BERGEN

Being responsible for equipment, operation and logistics of the county hall project in Bergen, Edvin Hesjedal from LAB Entreprenør AS, can confirm that the testing of the new solution so far has been more than satisfactory. “I have actually worked on getting a couple of similar solutions before, at that time as an employee in the rental industry, and this is clearly the best version I have seen so far,” he says.

“We are located on a large and cramped construction site in the center of a large Norwegian city, and by using the new system, we have far fewer players to deal with and far less traffic through the construction area. This in turn means much less pollution for both the local environment and our employees, in addition to the fact that it is financially beneficial for the renters with little equipment  ‘downtime’. At the same time, it is a simple system to use compared to renting and delivering, and in addition, it is a safe solution as you must document that you have received training on the equipment before you can rent it,” Hesjedal points out.
