JCB’s new Access Division takes off as 2 Cousins Powered Access becomes the first JCB scissor lift customer in the world
2 Cousins Powered Access has become the first ever JCB scissor lift customer in the world following the launch of JCB’s Access division.
The specialist access business, which has a network of branches located throughout the UK, has initially bought a new S1930e model – one of nine all new electric scissor lifts introduced by JCB when it entered the $8 billion powered access market.
Oxford-based 2 Cousins guaranteed its place in JCB Access history by placing the order at the product launch.
2 Cousins Managing Director, Jason Prisley said: “The company is under new leadership and we want to make our mark. There is no better way than to write our name in the history books as the first ever JCB Access customer in the world. I have run a fleet of JCB telescopic handlers before and I have worked with key members of the JCB Access team before, so I was in no doubt that the quality of new equipment and the level of service would be everything you would expect.
“JCB like 2 Cousins simply doesn’t do things by halves – so we had no fear about placing the order without seeing the machines. The launch was spectacular and the scissor lifts look first class. We knew we had made a great business decision and I’m confident that this is the first of many deals.”
JCB Access Managing Director, Richard Butler said: “We have been truly overwhelmed by the positive reaction from the industry. Enquiries and early sales have soared above expectations and when established major players such as 2 Cousins place immediate orders it fully justifies JCB’s entry into the sector.”
The JCB S1930e is a 19ft electric scissor with a platform measuring 1.64m long by 0.76m wide. It is rated for basket capacity of 227kg and powered by four 6v or 12v batteries with hydraulic drive.
It is one of an initial nine all-new electric scissor models. By the end of the year the company will offer 27 totally new access platforms, covering more than 80% of the access rental market, including nine electric and three diesel scissor lifts from 15’ (4.6m) to 45’ (13.8m). Conexpo saw the unveiling of the first JCB articulated boom platform – the 50’ (14.9m) AJ50D. Four other articulated boom models are set to join the range, along with 10 diesel telescopic booms.
2 Cousins Powered Access provides its customers with national coverage with only one point of contact. It offers a full range of elevated working platforms including: multi-action jib cherry pickers, narrow aisle scissor lifts, booms, bi-energy booms and electric scissors spanning from 6 – 25 metres. It also offers site assessments and full training is available from registered IPAF instructors.
