We are at a tipping point for bitumen

We live in rapidly changing times, especially for bitumen trading businesses. Refiners are concerned about the impact that the International Maritime Organisation’s 2020 deadline to cap sulphur levels in marine fuel will have on their profit margins, while being eager to explore opportunities for blending. Trading firms are balancing the risk of investing in logistics with the ability to leverage arbitrage differentials. And buyers are demanding a clearer picture of supply conditions, price competition and the hedging tools to manage their businesses.

Over the last 13 years, Argus Bitumen Trading Asia has evolved with the industry while continuing to provide critical information and networking opportunities for refiners, trading firms and importers. With over 2,000 attendees having benefitted from the event over the years, Argus Bitumen Trading Asia 2018 is the ultimate meeting place for bitumen professionals from around the world.

This year’s conference programme has been realigned to address the numerous challenges faced by the bitumen community.

Argus has also been closely watching the increasing amount of work being done across the globe to improve the quality of paving materials to cope with challenges from climate change, population growth and ever-rising standards for road and highway performance.

Adapting to these changing market dynamics, Argus is excited to launch the inaugural Argus Pavement Technology Asia 2018 event, which will be held alongside Argus Bitumen Trading Asia.

With innovation as its core focus, the new programme assesses the different trends in production and application technologies and the solutions they can offer to the paving industry. There will be a special focus on bitumen emulsifiers and additives and their roles in road preservation and stabilisation.

By co-locating the Bitumen Trading and Pavement Technology Asia conferences, we aim to offer attendees more opportunities to interact with the vast network of commercial and technical executives from different expertise groups around the world.

Argus Bitumen and Pavement events will be held in Singapore on 17-19 October 2018. Register before 31 August 2018 and enjoy the early bird discount of up to US$400.
