Fleet operators are hailing the impact of ground-breaking software that’s set to revolutionise the compliance management of commercial drivers and vehicles in the UK.

The state-of-the-art system, based on the latest internet and mobile technology, has been launched by the team of experts at Convey Technology led by Steve Fisher, former managing director of Exentra and innovator behind the widely-used ‘Smartanalysis’ software.

Hosted on the Microsoft Azure platform, it features several innovative modules each designed to help drivers and managers collect, monitor and share vital business data – including drivers’ hours, WTD, driver performance, vehicle defects and driver licence profiles.

The system provides operators with the tools to analyse and interpret this data and manage their businesses in a much more effective way by enabling them to focus on key areas and manage by exception.

Purpose-built apps for both managers and drivers help businesses to manage drivers’ hours and WTD compliance, along with driver performance, more efficiently than ever before.

The configurable, paperless management system creates substantial savings in both time and cost, and greatly increases productivity – making it completely scalable to suit any requirement.

The Driver App also allows drivers to access their own data in a timely way, enabling them to identify and understand any current and future implications of potential infringements.

Uniquely, the entire suite of modules can be accessed through a single sign-on as the system works off a shared database – delivering unprecedented levels of integration and highly intuitive functionality. Any changes made on one module automatically transfer across others, providing enhanced efficiencies and negating the potential costly risk of human error.

Steve Fisher said: “As a team with decades of experience within the logistics sector, we know better than anyone the complex issues faced by those within it and the genuine need for operators to have the tools available to manage their fleet and their drivers more effectively and efficiently.

“Our knowledge and expertise, combined with exceptional insight, passion for technology and commitment to the very best customer service, has seen us build our software platform from the ground up.

“We haven’t simply started from where others have left off… we’ve re-engineered, re-imagined and refined to deliver a solution that is truly revolutionary.”

The Convey team, bolstered by the recent addition of Karen Crispe, former commercial director for the RHA, has developed the one-of-its-kind compliance management system in conjunction with key transport operators and partners over a two-year period, before now officially launching the product to the wider market.

Turners of Soham, one of the largest hauliers in the UK, uses the Tachograph Analysis and Licence modules to manage the compliance of its entire 2,000-strong HGV fleet. And the management team sees the platform as a true game-changer.

John Burbridge, Group Quality and Compliance Manager, said: “The Convey performance module and Manager App is a fantastic tool that gives us the benefit of electronic driver debrief and totally removes the need for printing and filing paper reports, which saves us a considerable amount of time and money.

“It collates every bit of information we need from both our vehicles and drivers, and delivers that data right to our fingertips.

“It also gives us a complete and consistent picture of our entire fleet, helps to ensure we’re fully compliant by highlighting potential issues before they happen and has already substantially improved the efficiency of our operation.

“There’s nothing as effective as this on the market and it has the very real ability to make a significant difference to the way driver and vehicle compliance is managed across the whole industry.”

Karen Crispe, a long-standing spokesperson on tachograph legislation, said: “Having worked with fleet operators for many years, we’ve gained exceptional insight into just what it is they need – and this product is undoubtedly what the industry has been crying out for.

“We’re all hugely excited about working alongside businesses of all shapes and sizes over the months and years to come to ensure they benefit from complete compliance, optimum efficiencies, and total peace of mind – both now and in the future.”
