NBS confirmed as CIBSE’s specification and product data partner

Today, NBS, the leading construction data platform, has announced its partnership with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) as its specification and product data partner.

The partnership marks the joining of two recognised industry leaders. CIBSE, is an institution dedicated to improving building performance through engineering excellence, and NBS, is a global leading technology platform that provides building services engineers with a cloud-based specification and manufacturer product data platform.

By working together, NBS and CIBSE will bring vast amounts of information, content and resources to its members and customers, providing support throughout the different stages of a building project.

As a part of the partnership, NBS will provide content and resources for CIBSE members to help them improve the way they specify their projects using the platforms NBS Source and NBS Chorus.

NBS is offering all CIBSE members a preferential rate on a 12-month subscription to NBS Chorus, the industry’s leading specification platform, which helps users to manage risk on projects.

As a leading voice in building services, CIBSE is looking to establish closer links with specifiers by providing access to quality technical information and raising awareness of its membership network, ensuring consistent quality specifications across the construction supply chain.

Simon Parker, Managing Director of CIBSE Services said: “We are delighted to announce NBS as the official specification and product data partner for CIBSE. Partnerships like this lead the way forward to support our members and the wider built environment community to work smarter by bringing people, organisations, and data together through technology.

“CIBSE is committed to driving higher standards in construction product information, as demonstrated by our early and ongoing support for the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI).  We believe that working with NBS will add further impetus to raising standards and changing the approach to and management of product information.”

NBS has a long track record in providing information and tools to the construction industry, and in recent years has transformed into a fully cloud-based platform. The organisations also plan to work together on digital events such as webinars and discussion panels to enrich the debate on industry topics and better support customers.

Commenting on the partnership, Colin Smith, NBS’ Chairman, said: “Better-performing buildings for society and the environment have never been more critical, and CIBSE brings a wealth of knowledge that’s unmatched in the industry. Having them on board will undoubtedly prove invaluable to our users when looking to promote the practice of building services engineering, invest in education and research, and support our community of built environment professionals.

“We’re also keen to share with CIBSE members how NBS software can help protect against risk through our digitally collaborative specification writing platform. But equally, this will be hugely beneficial to manufacturers looking to provide the very best standard of data and in a format that specifiers can quickly obtain.

“We are delighted to be teaming up with CIBSE, and both organisations can increase their reach and help the industry work more effectively. This is all about driving up quality across the built environment.”
