Concrete Canvas was named the Samsung Innovation Award Winner at the 2017 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards gala dinner ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane. This award recognises the company that successfully applies any form of innovation, and celebrates the ideas that have had the greatest impact on an organisation or industry.

Concrete Canvas Ltd is a material technology company that manufactures revolutionary and innovative construction materials called Concrete Canvas® (CC) and CC HydroTM. Concrete Canvas® and CC HydroTM are fast & easy to install, providing a more environmentally friendly option to using conventional concrete methods. The primary markets are in the civil, mining and petrochemical sectors where Concrete Canvas® is used for a range of applications such as channel lining, slope protection and bund lining.

William Crawford, Director and Co-Founder of Concrete Canvas Ltd said, “Concrete Canvas is based in Pontypridd, South Wales. We manufacture everything we make in Pontypridd and we sell to 80 plus countries around the world from the South Wales Valleys. It’s a fantastic achievement, it means a huge amount to myself and Director & co-Founder of Concrete Canvas, Peter Brewin. The judges commented: “Concrete Canvas blew us away with their truly innovative products and the way they foster innovation within their company, all alongside impressive growth. They have revolutionised an industry, and as well as this, their products have demonstrable long term environmental impact globally. Congratulations!”

Suzanne Homewood, Enterprise Sales Director at Samsung said: “Concrete Canvas fully deserves this very special award for showing true innovation and developing a product that has huge potential to revolutionise the building industry and other industries which rely on quick, fast and cost-effective construction, such as transport and housing. They’ve taken a product and said ‘we can make this even better, more user-friendly and more environmentally sound,’ which is real innovation with tangible benefits. Some of their products and use cases are really inspiring.”

The Samsung Innovation award is the 21st award won by Concrete Canvas in its 13 years of trading, and tops off a record-breaking year of sales and growth for the company.

Over 1200 business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians and media representatives gathered at the Grosvenor House Hotel for the 16th annual National Business Awards, and together continued the celebration of the Best of British Ambition. The Awards were presented by BBC Breakfasts Naga Munchetty and welcomed Sir Mo Farah as headline speaker.
