A-Plant Lux support helped London celebrate the New Year
A-Plant Lux, the UKโs largest hirer of portable traffic signals, helped to ensure The Mayor of Londonโs New Year celebrations went off with a bang.
Tasked with organising pedestrian management for the Cityโs annual firework event, A-Plantโs dedicated traffic and highways division deployedย 29 variable message signs to a variety of key viewing areas including, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Waterloo Bridge, Parliament Square, Embankment, plus key access points leading into and out of London.
Each sign held 77 messages and Michael Baird-Parker, Regional Operations Manager for A-Plant Lux, worked alongside the client on the evening to ensure that the correct messages were being displayed.
He said: โThis is the fifth consecutive year that we have been asked to provide equipment for Londonโs New Year celebrations.
โIt is always exciting to play an integral role in Europeโs largest annual firework display and being asked five years in a row is a reflection of the companyโs continuing commitment to excellence.โ

To keep members of the public safe from overcrowding during the celebrations, A-Plantโs specialist events division, Live, were also tasked with installing 5,500 barriers, 7km of Heras fencing and 100 hoarding panels across the Capital.
Live, a leading supplier to Europeโs events industry, also deployed five crews on the evening to ensure barriers were in place as and when they were required.
Mark Fisher, Head of Contract Sales at Live, said: โEvery year, over 100,000 visitors travel to London to enjoy the cityโs annual New Yearโs Eve fireworks and we were absolutely thrilled to be asked to provide a crowd control system for such an exciting international event.
โOur equipment was also used for Londonโs New Yearโs Day Parade and the client was very happy with how smoothly both events were handled.โ
