SOCOTEC acquires Survey Associates to strengthen infrastructure monitoring

SOCOTEC, the leading provider of testing, inspection and compliance services in the UK, has enhanced its monitoring capabilities with the acquisition of Survey Associates Ltd, specialists in high quality manual survey monitoring, correlation and topographical surveys.

Based in Uckfield, East Sussex, Survey Associates Ltd is actively involved in the monitoring of the London Underground, Network Rail and 3rd Party assets throughout London and the South East. This activity joins ITM Monitoring, who were purchased by the SOCOTEC Group in March 2018. Together they will become SOCOTEC Monitoring UK Ltd, thus creating a specialist monitoring division of SOCOTEC in the UK.

Ian Sparks, CEO of SOCOTEC UK explains: “The acquisition of Survey Associates Ltd further strengthens our position in the UK market by broadening the monitoring capabilities already offered by ITM Monitoring, and provides significant opportunities within the infrastructure sector. This is something ITM and SOCOTEC UK have already demonstrated through collaboration on a number of infrastructure projects. The creation of the monitoring division is fully aligned with the SOCOTEC Group’s goal of becoming European leader in TIC* in the construction and infrastructure sectors by 2020.”

Jon Scott, managing director of SOCOTEC Monitoring UK said: “ITM Monitoring has worked with Survey Associates Ltd on a number of infrastructure projects over many years, where multiple technical disciplines across monitoring and infrastructure have been used to provide a comprehensive solution for clients.”

Ian concludes: “By expanding our monitoring provision our clients now have the benefit of a single specialist contractor to deliver analysis, design and execution of asset risk control throughout the asset lifecycle, from the planning and design stage through to decommissioning, mitigating the risk to people, property, budgets and timescales.”
