Network Rail offering epic career choice with Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeships

Network Rail are recruiting for the next batch of future rail leaders through the Engineering Apprenticeships scheme. Applications are now open for a March 2020 start and will close when all places have been filled.

Engineering Apprenticeships at Network rail are designed to provide fantastic on the job training mixed with classroom-based learning. Candidates will be earning whilst learning, and supported by experienced colleagues, allowing them to thrive in the rail industry.

It’s the beginning of an epic career journey that can lead to varied career options including the chance to study for further qualifications and gain a chartered membership of a professional engineering institute.

Mo Isa, a former Engineering Apprentice and now Team Leader explains: “The training you receive from this apprenticeship is amazing. It creates different career pathways for you – from management to technical or maintenance roles.

“Part of my job now is to carry out inspections and assess the quality of the track to see if it’s safe for trains to run. This would not be possible if I didn’t apply and I would highly recommend visiting the Network Rail website and joining the apprenticeship scheme. It’s the best railway-based apprenticeship out there with a great reputation.”

As part of the Engineering Apprenticeships scheme, candidates will complete technical and leadership training modules at our engineering training centres around the country to prepare them for a career at the top of their profession.

Classes are taught by a team of experienced rail engineers and professional trainers; some of whom have been through the apprenticeship scheme themselves, providing valuable information and advice.

Samiul Choudhury, another former Engineering Apprentice who is now a Senior Technical Officer enjoyed the experience: “I learnt so much because when you’re on a train, you wouldn’t think there’s so much thought process that goes behind maintaining and fixing the track. There’s so much mathematics, planning and designing behind it and every day, you’re just learning something new.

“There’s such a strong future ahead if you join this Engineering Apprenticeships scheme, with many options to further your career alongside top quality staff and management.”

Whichever career path chosen, candidates will be working to transform our vast network of rail, lineside access points, signals, electrified lines and telecommunications to get them ready for the future. All the while, building experience that will set them up for the future.
