Mecalac showcase their compact innovations at the Executive Hire Show
Mecalac Construction Equipment UK, a global leader in compact equipment design and manufacture, will showcase its latest product range at this year’s Executive Hire Show (5-6 February; Ricoh Arena, Coventry).
Alongside displaying a selection of site dumper, tandem compaction roller and pedestrian roller models on stands G20 and NPP8, Mecalac will also launch its all-new fixed canopy site dumper.
Named as one of the show’s Innovation Trail highlights for 2020, the MDX Canopy provides class-leading protection at an attractive price point. The canopy-equipped site dumper will be the first to market and aims to bridge the gap between ROPS and cabbed models – an ideal proposition for the rental sector.
Based on Mecalac’s globally-acclaimed cabbed dumper design, the MDX Canopy removes the rear and sides of the cab, leaving the windscreen and roof to form an open-air canopy. Offering the highest levels of protection in the event of a rollover, operators benefit from exceptional visibility, comfort and performance.
Available initially in six and nine-tonne payloads, each model pairs stylish aesthetics with impressive operator functionality. Unparalleled integration of the canopy within the ground-up design minimises noise and vibration.
The six-tonne MDX Canopy delivers outstanding manoeuvrability for improved productivity. The nine-tonne variant offers similarly impressive statistics, alongside guaranteeing both best-in-class visibility and class-leading ground clearance.
Both models adopt a highly-efficient 3.6L, 55kw Perkins 904 Stage V-compliant engine. DPF exhaust after-treatment (with passive regeneration) ensures adherence to international emissions standards, while next-generation Power Brakes, driven by the main hydraulic system, deliver significant improvement in pedal feel and braking effort.
While operator comfort is prioritised through easy-access controls, optional air conditioning and an all-new dashboard design, industry-leading safety credentials ensure the MDX Canopy stands out from the crowd.
High-visibility access steps ensure safe entry and exit for operators, while flashing green seatbelt beacons, LED work lights and protected taillights ensure each model is both visible on site and suitable for both day and night operation. As with the six and nine-tonne Mecalac ROPS and MDX portfolios, the MDX Canopy is fitted with first-stage Shield technology as standard, to further enhance site dumper safety for operators. Shield PRO and Mecalac’s Hazard Detection and Capture Telematics can also be specified.
Paul Macpherson, UK Sales and Marketing Director at Mecalac Construction Equipment UK, commented: “The MDX Canopy fills a unique gap in the site dumper market, where safety, performance, operator visibility and comfort intersect. We invite everyone to visit our stand and talk with our team about its design and capabilities.”
