Using Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology, the trio aims to redefine how tolls are processed, making them more streamlined, secure, and driver-friendly. The project big reveal was held at the OmniAir Interoperability Testing event at Florida’s SunTrax Test Facility on May 9, 2025. This real-world demonstration was a glimpse into a smarter, faster, and nationwide tolling future.

Eliminating Friction at the Toll Booth

Today’s tolling systems are a patchwork of regional transponders, license plate scanners, and mobile apps that don’t always play nice with one another. From misplaced transponders to app errors and unrecognised plates, it’s a system ripe for disruption.

Enter C-V2X technology, based on the global SAE J3217 standard. This two-way communication system turns vehicles into active participants in toll transactions. Instead of slowing down for gantries or worrying about compatibility, motorists receive real-time toll notifications directly on their in-car screens. They can review rates, confirm payments, and continue their journey—all without lifting a finger.
