Samsung C&T Corporation has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build a 1,760MW combined cycle power plant by PT Jawa Satu Power in Indonesia.

The $1 billion project, located in Cilamaya, will be developed by PT Jawa Satu Power, a consortium of PT Pertamina (Persero), Marubeni Corporation, and Sojitz Corporation.  Samsung C&T will form a joint venture agreement with General Electric (GE) Power and PT. Meindo Elang Indah (Meindo), and its portion will be worth more than half of the whole EPC contract price.

The Jawa 1 power plant is part of the government’s 35,000 MW electrification program, and is expected to be the biggest combined cycle power plant in Southeast Asia. Upon its completion, the plant will supply electricity to approximately 11 million homes.
