Established more than 40 years ago, Davies Crane Hire Ltd, based in Wales, continues to invest in its mobile crane fleet with the addition of a new Tadano AC 7.450-1 all terrain crane, the first unit to arrive on UK soil.

With a carrier length of 15.99 m, a total length of 17.62 m, and an outrigger base of 8.45 m, the AC AC 7.450-1 does not take up more space than a six-axle crane at the job site. The new machine also offers significantly larger lifting capacities, an 80 m main boom and a system length of 132 m.

The crane has hit the road running with a busy first few weeks and has been sent to a number of sites, including lifting part of a RAM car at the Port Talbot steelworks, working in tandem with a tower crane to remove a redundant pipe from a railway possession, and replacing a gearbox on a wind turbine – an interesting assignment as access was a problem and the AC 7.450-1 was favoured over other competing models of similar size, thanks to its compactness.

Davies Crane Hire Ltd Directors, Malcolm and Neil Davies noted their company has a long-standing relationship with Tadano due to the level of quality and innovation of its products. Neil remarked “The Tadano AC 7.450-1 is innovative and meets our needs as it is powerful like many eight-axle units but compact like a six-axle crane, enabling us to service our valued customers and more.”

“We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone at Davies Crane Hire Ltd for purchasing the new crane,” said Tim Leech, Sales Manager for Tadano UK. “Davies Crane Hire has been a great supporter of our company, and we are sure this new crane will be a great addition to their fleet.”
